RV is an awesome group, I would say a bit between fx and aespa

I think they also had a huge marketing/concept team

their music is also unique/iconic

they were def not niche like fx, sm wanted hit summer songs and they got it

their niche songs are the best imo, like Automatic, oots, ...

I remember their concept was having no concept except mature(velvet) and cute(red)

but yeah i do agree thanks to f(x) being an experimental group SM had the chance to experiment different sounds with them which not only change the game in SM but in all kpop that's why we get a lot of experimental music type. But they also introduced in a way the futuristic concept and much more.

I do wonder if F(X) would have been more popular if SM had followed the same sound that they did with SNSD and S.E.S.

my friend the status of a group being iconic is usually determined once their career is over and people look back and say wow they made a difference to kpop (or whatever)

it's rare for a group who is still performing to be considered iconic

Older acts that have had time to sink into the cultural conscience and accrue some nostalgia will always appear more iconic than contemporary acts because things usually don't seem iconic while they're happening, but in retrospect.

Like I said in your other bad take thread it's because you are old and live in the past.

Even in SM, Aespa is their flagship GG while Fx was always the little sister to SNSD and surpassed by Red Velvet within 3 comebacks.

Aespa is still developing. f(x) was “ready” pretty much at debut.
