Netizens discuss Queendom Puzzle current TOP 7, core fandom voting, and biggest surprises/discoveries so far

  • buildo.jpg

After seeing the current top 7 rankings, some netizens brought up the issue of whether or not viewers in fact were casting their votes for the "best combination" of talents, as the program's main purpose suggests, or if some were simply voting for their "favorite idols" rather than objectively determining the best performers from each week.

    As one netizen pointed out:

"After watching today's performances and then the current top 7 rankings.. you can really tell that some of them were voted in by their core fans. Look at H1-KEY's Hwiseo, she was chosen as an MVP but isn't in the top 7."

    Others agreed and commented,

"Because it's still early, the core fans are dominating the votes. Hopefully there will be changes as the show goes on."

"It doesn't make sense to me that one of the H1-KEY members isn't in the top 7."

"This is different from 'Produce' because the core fans become too influential in the votes. It really puts the lesser-known artists at a disadvantage."

"There are so many fresh, new faces, but the top 7 is mostly just familiar faces."

"I'm voting for Miru, Hwiseo, and Wooyeon!"

"I feel like Hwiseo and Jiwoo were the most surprising discoveries so far. I've never heard of them before this show. As for the veterans, it's obvious that the have experience on stage but sometimes that can feel redundant unless there's something new. I feel like that's the reason Chanmi might not get as many votes as her hoobaes."

"This top 7 is totally just some of the most well-known contestants."

"I hope at least one member of Rocket Punch can make it."

"People should really vote for the idols who performed well that week instead of their favorites."

Netizens discuss whether or not 'core' fandoms are only voting for their favorites on Mnet's 'Queendom Puzzle'
On the June 27 broadcast of Mnet's girl group competition program 'Queendom Puzzle', the contestants took on their first 'Remix' battle round after …

  • Honestly, regarding H1-Key

I feel like it doesn't matter if they get in. What matters is that they can use this show to be more well known by the Korean public and their group can grow from there

well if we will need to rate things using screentime then for now H1-KEY, woo!ah!, Cherry Bullet, and Rocket Punch are the winners, they've got most screentime

for example Weeekly has 4 members but in recent episode we didn't see much of them, yeah there were Jihan scenes, and some of Soeun but that was it

  • The vote results are an accumulation of the past so and the voting started before we saw much. Nothing had been seen of Hwiseo, for example, for most of the voting period. It makes perfect sense she is not ranked high here and it will probably change in this round of voting. MNET knows exactly what they are doing showing us these results and what it will make people do (vote more for Hwiseo and possibly RCPC girls).

It's quite hard to tell who MNET wants in the final lineup apart from Nana and Hwiseo (full on main protagonist storylines) as well as possibly one or two of the Rocket Punch girls (tons of screentime and completely positive edits). Based on the first 2 eps I was expecting Bora/Jiwon to get a push but now it seems like MNET will just end them, the edits are getting progressively more negative at least for Bora. They probably want Hwiseo as main vocal in the final lineup and Bora/Kei are here just for content. I honestly can't fault them for it.

Whatever the lineup ends up being I'm OK with it because my #1 pick Nana will be in it :froghype:

    you have good point here

I would also add to this one small thing that usually MNet tries to 'tone down' older contestants through the time

Kep1er is good example for that Yujin is 96, then you have Mashiro and Xiaoting as 99 liners, and then next member is already born in 2002...

so here Kei is 95, Chanmi is 96, Yeeun is 98 liner, Yeoreum is 99 liner

and in comparison you have Nana and Suyun born in 2001, Hwiseo who was born in 2002, Wooyeon in 2003, Jihan in 2004, Jiwoo was born in 2005

I'm not posting all of them but we can assume that we will get similar situation here and at certain point we will have "screentime" battle of those who did the best in performances + those who are PD's/judges favorites,

and I'm pretty sure that those girls who overlap in two mentioned things above will make it to the group

another battle will be between those girls in the middle by age because there is most of them in the show let's say those born between 1999 and 2001/2002

But, they are already Bora and Kei as staple vocal picks. If you are to seriously make "best combination", the group needs balance and cohesion and not just vocalist collection

If you take top most talented contestants as core members, you have Nana, Kei and Bora, more of feminine soft vibe.

I mean I'm a big fan of Bora you don't need to convince me, I'm voting for her just like I did for all of GP999.

But if I was some kind of MNET producer and my job was to edit-rig it so that the group SELLS then Hwiseo would without a single doubt be the main vocal and Bora/Kei would be eliminated because they could outshine her. You could throw in Suyun there and they could handle the vocals between the two of them, she is one of the main vocals of RCPC after all.

If I was making a group mostly consisting of my personal faves it would probably flop horribly. I would for example include both Bora and Kei which would be awkward.

  • I'm so happy Nana on there. I always knew if she just had the exposure people will notice her talent and charm and the show is doing just that for her

This was one of the things I was looking forward to the most about this entire show - people finding out about Nana. Glad to see that is going reaaaaaally well with her being #1 in the vote. And I just know nothing can go wrong either, not even MNET can find a way to evil edit Nana, she's just an angel.

Yeah the evil edit was definitely bogus and had no purpose other than for shock value, I'm glad it didn't affect her much.

I don't know what people are expecting lol. Obviously fans are just gonna vote for their faves, no one is voting for "best combination of talents", and everyone knows Kpop is clearly not about talents.

  • Funny because even at the very start mnet using popularity to measure all of them.

Tho I don't mind too much about the current top 7, unless Hwiseo. She is really good, not only on performing, but also choosing a song that suit her well.

by the way according to Doyouram we shouldn't pay attention to the way members are placed in that graphic because apparently they are just placed there by Korean alphabet not by any 'ranking'
