The reason why idols cant/dont unionize

  • The reason why idols cant/dont unionize

Here Bomi and Key talk about how idols discuss their earnings and contracts

Apparently everyone has a big ego and wants to sound richer than they are so most idols just lie to each other :skull::skull::skull::skull:

They all pretend to earn more than they do with each other so they arent totally aware of how bad everyone is getting screwed

  • And in corporate world thats exactly what you want, employees not sharing their pays/contracts so the companies can keep fkin them over while making record profits :pepe_akorns:

  • Unless you are from A.C.E and clearly say you got pocketmoney as trainee and quit ok-ish monthly pay after debut even tho you know your CEO is broke as fuck and than say on radio shows you get more than you should since you know your CEO can't actually aford it T-T

  • That makes sense

We hardly talk about it here on akp, but the more famous u are, the bigger your ego will be

K-pop idols are used to acting humble on camera because that's what asian/Korean culture is like but I bet most of the famous ones are difficult to manage because of their egos lol

  • Im sorry OP, but that theory is really fucking stupid.

Being ego driven is not an idol unique thin, espesically in the entertainment industry.

And its not like idols are a separate industry than regular musicians.

The reasons idols dont have a union is the exact same reason why musicians in the states have unions.

The occupation is heavily silo based and musicians are essentially treated as self employed(even though theyre clearly not)

The overall level of leverage in the industry by a musician is paltry and music corporations are infamous for their legalize.

A lack of Unions isn't cause some idol is saying "I have one extra zero in my bank account"

  • in a country of highly educated people, idols arent exactly the wisest

They are easy to manipulate. Besides a few outliers most idols are stupid and it's expected most are recruited as kids some with barely any highschool education. Most with no formal education outside of elementary school. Couple this with the lack of parental guidance and common sense you learn in daily life, ensures they are dumb and impressionable

you cant really know who's stupid or not based on genetics

however, yes the lifestyle probably leaves them far behind their genetic potential when it comes to wisdom

  • I don't actually think this is the case. It's just a joke obviously. They all just have different priority.

Groups like 2nd gen definitely didn't really has any issues for now because at least they seems to get paid for their works unlike tvxq and exo. Red velvet might not in the position where they can get out of the company easily and can afford to do so. We all know Knetz and kpop stans are much crueler to gg. Sm can fabricated a new bullying scandal or attitude scandal to kill them. Nct as a whole didn't really stand a chance to get out. Some of them still hoping for the spotlight, some of them just waiting to get out but have no money and connection to win their case and some of them want to protect their popularity.

Not to mention that each of them has different contract which making it harder to form a union.

I always loved A.C.E as a group. They also seemed to have good ceo.

Can't wait for their comeback, hopefully this year? I am not sure when their maknae is done with military.

  • Cos if they try to unionise they would be labelled commie and sent to north korea

I know you’re exaggerating and no one is going to be sent to North Korea but I definitely buy your explanation more. People don’t unionise simply because they are afraid of being blacklisted/losing their job.

Also, I’m pretty sure I saw some news about their government not wanting to pass a law preventing employers to sue employees on strike/demonstrating or something. Are unions common in SK, because it doesn’t look like it.
