What do you think? Are there more Japanese people in KPop or more Koreans in JPop?

I didn’t even realize there were so many Koreans in j-pop. It just seems like everyone flocks to kpop

I like jpop because it is more diverse and accepting of anyone unlike KPOP and kpop fans who agrue everyday over anyone who isn't east asian.

But in KPop it's allways the "I can't speak Korean properly so I allways study when I have time since I'm from Japan", "Oh I miss my hometown Osaka so much","Back when I was in Japan","My Japanese classmates,...." and so on but compared to this most mixed JPop-idols are chill and mention it lesser or almost not even. The craziest "foreigners" in JPop tend to be those who grew up in an English speaking country, not those who are foreign by ethnicity. Like for example Ryoki from BE:FIRST is fully Japanese but grew up in Australia and the USA and so he constantly says random stuff in English inbetween and makes fun of how he used to live outside of Japan. There could also be the confused type like in a video I once saw there was a woman who got asked where she learned to be so good at English and she was like "How many times do I need to say that I'm from Sydney?"

IDK if it's a cultural difference that people are a bit more calm about their ethnicity in Japan than Korea, but I noticed that most people be more calm about being mixed or fully foreign (Unless you are Fengfan of INI yell at your members thinking they woud discriminate you cause you're Chinese, even if they don't discriminate you)

I think it definitely might be a cultural thing. I’ve heard that in Japan there isn’t as much discrimination towards mixed people like how there is in Korea

The discrimination in Japan 1,00000% exists. One of my friend is a "Zainichi" and the fact that he can't get Japanese citizenship despite being born there and living there all his life because of his Korean heritage. This is why most mix Korean-Japanese celebs have been really low profile about it. In the last decade, I see more younger mix celebs speaking up and being proud but even during my two years of living in Japan, I was met with discrimination for being from SEA despite speaking Japanese very well and didn't do anything wrong from a few Japanese people. Let's not make it that one country is better than another when both countries still have lots of issues about racism and discrimination etc.

There were a lot of Koreans in Japanese entertainment in the old days.

Hibari Misora was rumored to be a Korean. She had married (and later divorced) an enka singer named Akira Kobayashi, who was also rumored to be Korean.

Akina Nakamori , who is famous for a scandal against Seiko Matsuda over singer Masahiko Kondo during 1980s, is said to be Korean.

There are many others, but until early 1990s a lot of entertainment figures in Japan were reportedly rumored to be Koreans. Some are false, but some are probably true.

I didn’t say that you said that and I was just writing that so that people don’t jump to the zero sum assumptions about either country. It was not a call out on anyone here - chill.
