Because, with being as respectful as I can, Somi had a lot more potential than Wonyoung and a much much higher public image during her IOI days but still has what most would consider(certainly a company of YG's size) a largely unsuccessful career.
Beyond Wonyoungs image not really matching the typical YG mold they already have an extensive female trainee roster for the upcoming GG. Plus Wonyoung is already under contract with Starship, BL only were able to acquire Somi as she had likely become frustrated with the direction/lack of advancement JYP had made for her career years after IOI so left her contract. Wonyoung isn't in that situation at all.
I just don't believe it.

The people talking about not suiting YG vibe must be stuck on years past. Have you seen Treasure, at least half of the members could be said to not have this supposed YG vibe or even older Winner don't really have the hip hop type image in their songs.

I agree with you about the Wonyoung part but YG has taken many people who started out with other companies:
Winner Mino trained with Block B and originally debuted with a 4-member ballad group called Bom
Both CL and iKON DK were former JYP trainees
Woong from AB6IX went thru JYP before going thru YG on his way to debuting under BNM
Seunghun from CIX went thru CUBE before going thru YG on his way to debuting under C9
I'm not counting Treasure Jihoon's training period under YG's former creative director's label because it's *almost* like being under a sub-label.

You're right, it lacks credibility but I still believe YG's image is evolving. Not sure about the public image since Iz*One were more successful overall? Despite the 'rigged group' scandal they didn't seem to be much affected

The actual one that supposedly does not debut people who where in other companies is SM but maybe,in this case she could be signing to be a model or a actress, which is a path that many people were speculating Minju would take anyway
