I promise your busy mostly non english speaking faves aren't browsing allkpop or reddit 24/7 for y'all to be this obsessed with defending them for every little move. It's creepy when someone is like

"___ saved my life!" They don't even know you exist bro.

Plus i'm certain some of you live through your idols and it's sad.

Like there's the average petty fan war/argument which is common and fair enough everyone participates in it. If someone is calling ur fave a flop, i get wanting to defend that.

And then there's the cringe ass hoes that say "mY uNnIe is So RiCh, YouR poOr aNd jEaLouS!"

Bragging about someone else money, is fucking weird.

Watch PERFECT BLUE, because some of you lunatics are the exact embodiment of that parasocial relationship.

i thought i was the only one that found the "they saved my life" thing really weird. Its normal to find comfort in an artist's music but when kpop profits from the parasocial relationship between fan and artist, it's kind of concerning.

I truly feel like the word "parasocial" has an undue stigma attached, especially when it comes to KPOP. These relationships are quite common, and have been for centuries. Hello people worshipping royalty! Honestly people worshipping anyone or anything they don't know... Some of it is more socially sanctioned/acceptable than others. Do church worshippers get told off on a daily basis for it? When they become dangerous is when they are taken to an extreme. Has it developed into and obsession? Are you a stalker/saesang? YEAH THAT'S BAD.
