In my opinion, I don’t think there will be a “nation’s girl group” for 4th gen. I honestly think Twice is gonna keep that title for a long time.
The trend for 4th gen ggs is usually girl crush or teen crush or anything that isn’t “cute”. And most 4th gen ggs don’t chart as well with these concepts.
So that’s why I think the next nation’s gg will come from 5th gen. Or maybe at the end of 4th gen.

I talk to my Korean friends circle and they have no clue about a lot of things lately. Ask them the older names and they'll tell you in a second.

True. But honestly what company would even debut a girl group like Twice or Snsd when teen crush and girl crush is the trend right now. The only girl group I could see maybe having that title is Weeekly if they have a hit song.

it's probably because of lack of concerts in 2020, and maybe even more because of lack of high school/college festivals. I remember that Mamamoo members said that they used to play in so many of those and it was cool because when they hyped the crowd the young audience really reacted well.

nah, that was still 3rd gen. 4th gen started in 2021 imo but 2020 is reasonable
Anyways Twice debuted like 4 years after the 3rd gen started(2011) and were called the ngg in like 2017/2018, 2-3 years after their debut and 5 years into the 3rd gen.
People just need to be patient lol

Mmm I doubt any company and their groups aim for such titles anymore. It's obvious they want the international success and validation more than domestic one.
Never say never tho. 4th gen groups are just starting to debut. Some of the most expected 4th gen ggs haven't made their debut yet. Let's wait and see, it's gonna be interesting
