Personally I didn't have any expectation and it's still the same... I know they exist but it would be the same even if they didn't. Maybe it's because they are a new group and I'm not that familiar with them but right know the first impression it's plain.
Did Aespa meet your expectations?

Welllllllllll I made the mistake of expecting ITNW p2 electric boogaloo and I thought they'd have more members, so basically not at all :D
-
-
For a rookie Yep
-
No, from the teasers I really thought the song would be like a soft fantasy song? but then when I heard black mamba I was like Yeah but I did end up liking the song after a while but it's still not one of my favs.
-
I was impressed by the vocalist's Winter and NingNing. I need some content from the rappers though. I feel Giselle didn't get decent lines to showcase her talents. SM needs to give us some more singing contents so that I can judge because the other 4th gen rookies are giving us more singing contents which really changes the impact.
-
At first no because i didn’t get the hype over them so when i watched black mamba it wasn’t it for me, thank god the song grew on me. i love the song but it’s not something i could repeat a thousand times.
-
-
-
Only in the number of members it's not enough, mostly I'm happy with them.
-
-
-
-
yeah
-
It's really hard to tell with only one song. They can either go uphill or downhill.
Yep! Good point
-
1. I was expecting female NCT version so just 4 members were huge disappointment.
2. Black Mamba was solid song but because of mv similarities to K/DA it didn't hit me that much.
3. Still I really enjoyed Winter's and NingNing's vocals
4. There isn't really too much content with them which is a boomer, and big minus for me.

Karina is going to be the new It Girl no matter what happens. I think Black Mamba was a much better debut song than Happiness was for Red Velvet, so aespa will end up doing OK as long as they don't backslide musically.

I didnt exactly have any expectations because I kept getting it recommended to me so I clicked on it. it's hardly my favorite song in the world but I like it. when I found out about the AI concept I saw how it could become problematic, but god dammit I can't help myself. corny overblown sci-fi concepts are my favorite thing!

I completely agree. I love Black Mamba but I hope SM's creativity doesn't peak there. They need to keep developing their concept and music identity.
-
-
It didn’t. But hope to see what other concepts or music they’ll be trying out.
-
They surpassed my expectations. I didnt care about them at all before the members teasers starting dropping and I, surprisingly, liked it a lot. I'm rooting for them
-
-
I did expect a lot with the SM hype on here and the initial marketing but the debut was underwhelming, glad they had some success cause I thought it would be way worse than what they achieved after hearing the song.
Anyway they have a huge future ahead of them and with SM, I don't see them failing music wise.
-
When the teasers were released I thought the concept is good, the universe is something I gonna like then, the MV came out... And everything is PERFECT! The MV, the girls, the vocals...
I'm waiting for the comeback to know if I stan.
-
-
yes.
i dont have any expectations anyways in the first place. As an artist myself, Im just mostly excited that they're incorporating an art form in the concept (2d and 3d models), altho the avatars go from bad to well-designed, I'm still rooting for it. I hope SM settles with the art style at some point.
Music-wise, I loved it. LMAO. My sister already memorized the choreography, and I always dance to BM whenever the chorus drops. I love love love dancing the dance break at the end.

They didn’t, but I’m sure they will soon maybe even in their next comeback.

Under normal circumstances I'd say no, but SM at the time was being bombarded by scandals. I'd say their concept could benefit more from less noise and more time. The whole plagiarism thing didn't help the concept too. The song was decent enough for me.
The girls themselves did pretty well under this pressure.
-
not really
-
need to see at least a cb first
-
-
Yes. My only worry was about the AI concept and on that regards, it didn't bother me too much.
I didn't have any other expectations. The song grew on me, the girls are talented, and the fact that they are making everyone else mad is making me want to support them even more. Still waiting for their next song to get a full opinion, though.
They are definitely the 4th gen GG that I have the eyes on the most for now.
-
Yes, they did. I want to see a new concept that is unique. They're also very talented. My complain is only the member numbers. I hate even numbered groups.
-
Not really.
This one is on me but there were rumours there was going to be a large group so a possible SNSD 2.0 but obviously that didn't take.
There was a ton buzz about their avatar concept but in the end it turned out to be nothing, at least for now. Currently there's nothing really unique or standout out about them as a 4 member group.
The debut song i didn't like
We'll see how they work out, knowing SM they'll probably shift somewhat in their concept and style

I didn't have any expectations for the debut, but the song wasn't hot and hitting completely within my standards. The MV choreo wasn't vibey either. Eventually, it would make sense to modify it after a period of time. The opportunity for Aespa's team to get the girls right is still out there. I hope they rise to the occasion and keep it up.
