the triples unit was honestly a mistake. it was too soon to release a large representative unit of the group. whole thing seems rushed as hell. and of the original two units (AAA and krystal eyes). krystal eyes still hasn't been given their "debut" and now there are already 4 newer members that have not been voted into a unit and probably won't be for a while. kotone and the other new girl are stuck in perpetual purgatory rn while kaede and dahyun got a one way ticket to an early debut. seems disproportionate.
yeah I think they were trying to avoid Loona's isssue of debuting as a group too late after solos/subunits. But this is too early

The competition is too fierce. Those borderline groups are all fighting a massive uphill battle with Idle/Ive/NJ/LSRFM all making massive fandom gains on top of what Aespa/BP/Twice/RV/Itzy/Stayc have already pulled off in terms of generating huge album sale increases. Then you factor in NMIXX/Kepler who both have solid fanbases and it's lights out for the rest.
Wooah, Weeekly, Everglow, Cherry Bullet, Rocket Punch, Weki, Secret Number, Pixy, Craxy, Tribe, Lightsum, Nature, Lunarsolar, Lapillus, Classy, CSR, XG and probably a dozen other names i'm forgetting right now, that's a shitload of groups trying for the same pie. Even if the pie continues to grow overall, it seems like most of the growth is concentrated in the top 10-15 groups and the rest are just barely hanging on.
I've long theorized that the Kpop GG market can only support 20-25 ish groups at any one time, and that the rest just wont get the financial support to be viable long term.

There has got to be an error with Purple Kiss's sales. Maybe an issue with production, that just doesn't seem right.
But seriously, Cabin Fever is a solid and amazing album.

People using first day sales as any indicator are just plain morons.
At least compare a week vs a week or something, to allow for shipping, distribution, timetables etc.

rbw really destroyed purple kiss’s momentum and hype from zombie just like that. the numbers show people were clearly tuning in to them after zombie’s positive reception, only for purple kiss to release memem as their next song - one of the most bafflingly terrible title track choices in kpop i’ve ever seen. and people’s interest in them evidently dropped like a rock unfortunately. they should sue rbw honestly
