I’ve seen comments along these lines of who will outlast or who will succeed more, giving an edge to BPink. It’s obvious anti-Asian male bias is incredibly common in the west. Whether it’s stereotypes about them, disfavor or choice of targets for physical attacks. But in the showbiz sense Asian women have been preferred to Asian males in like a 9:1 ratio. Only in recent times have things improved. And that would carry on in American audiences and media, with BPink somehow getting more venues for visibility.
Even though BTS has more ifans, the western public will respect BPink more than them

While parts of your argument are true, like the above statement, you are detrimentally conflating the different stereotypes Asian females face with respect. Asian women are heavily objectified as 'exotic' and subject to 'yellow fever' while also being subject to the same misogyny others of their same gender face. While they may not have to deal with the toxic masculinity and extreme bias against boybands among other things, the stereotypes they face are absolutely not anywhere close to RESPECT.
-
Your post is filled with logical fallacies.
Yes Asian men aren’t the most preferred men in the west and yes there is a toxic masculinity against more feminine looking men. This could be a barrier… But BTS is already respected and got critical acclaim in the music industry and is considered the biggest Boygroup in the world, so this makes your statement invalid.
Your reasoning does not follow the the conclusion of your argument
Also the preference towards Asian women is not due to respect but stereotypes and fetish.
-
I think it depends on what you mean by western public. If you mean immature boys then yes cus they hate non-hyper masculine looking men more than they hate "exotic", "weird eye" females.
But your average westerner doesn't care.
-
In the end it doesn't matter, I think sometimes people hold western public acceptance way too high.
Both groups are extremely successful and have huge fanbases. In the end it's about the people who are your fans. Not about a random boy in 5th grade who's only passion is fortnite.

Ironic since Dynamite blew up among kids in the US post-Fortnite event
really? i didn't know, most people I know heard about it from online, not fortnite lol. Always that dynamite being on fortnite came after it blowed up.
Then again I don't any friends that are boys since I'm not allowed to and I don't have any friends who play fortnite or are video game people.

I'm a fan that doesn't.

I think it's getting better for us AA dudes, of course this has to happen when i'm aging rapidly out of the dating market lol. I'm seeing Asian and Asian American males actually being portrayed positively and as 3 dimensional individuals, and not as sexless nerds or robot karate experts. It was a lot different for those of us growing up in the 80s and 90s where the only mainstream portrayals of Asian dudes were Bruce Lee, Mr Miyagi, or Long Duk Dong.
Movies, TV and similar forms of entertainment have really moved forward with more well rounded portrayals of Asian men. We're even seeing them more accepted in professional sports like soccer, basketball and baseball.
However, mainstream pop music still seems heavily resistant. A few hapa Asian dudes have made waves especially Bruno Mars but he's not really portrayed as Filipino, i think most wouldnt even guess his Asian ancestry, they would probably guess Latin heritage. Same with Conan Gray, i dunno how popular he is, but most people probably consider him white.
I have my thoughts about how BTS' rise to fame has impacted the social currency of Asian males in the US, but i dont really wanna start another war today lol. Suffice it to say that for Asian dudes to really be put up as equals to other races/ethnicities, I think we will need more Shohei Ohtanis, Son Heungmin's, and even ChaEunWoo's everywhere from sports, to acting, to music, etc.

I don't think kpop idols really represent Asian males at all. If you look series like squid game. Nobody looks like kpop idol.

He's part Filipino on his mother's side, his father is Puerto Rican - Jewish.

can you just agree that BP music more appealing to wider audience rather than BTS music? Both facing anti asian , however , better music may win the audience
Well, it's definitely not the case as BTS is obviously way more popular and have wider audience in the West or in the whole world. Everyone can have an opinion, but it won't matter if the stats or data represented by the public disagrees to your/others opinion.

So you have strong feeling about BTS's image in the West, but you chose Cha Eunwoo as an alternative?? He's THEE kpop pretty boy be for real
