I was going through my threads to find this thread and came across some really old threads where some people were accusing me of being a fake stan.

It reminded me of how I got called a fake stan etc because I made a joke thread and my exfriend decided to do some really dumb things, because I stan "rival groups", didn't criticize some fandoms "enough" etc.

Looking back I find it hilarious how these people were so sure I was a "fake stan" despite not knowing me personally at all, but I don't really hold anything against them, in fact I completely forgot it, can't say the same for those people lol . Anyway.....

There's a mentality in kpop that you should only stan 1 group and if u stan more, then you aren't loyal. If you stan a "rival group", you're are fake stan.

I think this mindset does more hurt to kpop than good.

A big part of the reason kpop is big today in my opinion is the feeling of community, and when you get comments like this, you don't feel like you are part of that community and it pushes you away.

So basically, stop calling multistans fake stans cus they stan more than one group. You don't know them personally, so how can you say that their love for groups/idols is fake? What right do you have to determine that?

The easy way is not "stan"ing any one. It has major advantages. Your not stuck loving any one group for any reason. No one can accuse you of being a fake stan. If a group makes a bad come back, or no comeback at all, it limit's the amount of disappointment you feel. Lastly, all groups, fandom's and idols are eligible to be the butt of your jokes. That's the most important.

What happens when your group is composed of a bunch of groups?

Yeah, it sometimes just creates a negative feedback loop

You stan multiple group, some bad fans ruin your experience whenever you post about that group, you post less about that group, posting less make you seem even less of a fan so they're even more aggressive toward you since you're seen more as a non-fan, your experience gets ruin more, you post even less, and it's a downward spiral from there.

Like, multis still support your faves. Why tf does it matter if they stan other groups?

I like 3 groups more or less and I certainly don't think of myself as a "fake fan." I think if a fan is into a group's music and likes the members then that's enough to be a fan. You don't need to go overboard about it.

I was once a multistan but never got to be called a fake stan, although I think I've been misunderstood sometimes. Time and life has made me become less and less interested in kpop and now I only pay a decent attention to only one group. But being a multistan is the way to go, it always gives you a greater view of the genre you like that stanning only one group, plus it keeps things interested. The problem is how much time and resources it consumes.

I stopped giving a shit this year. I know who I stream and spend my money on. end of discussion.
