What do people think about k-pop in your country/region/culture?

It's only popular among people (especially females) in their 10's and 20's. Which I think is a good thing because that's like 25-50% of our population. The people outside of this demographic usually aren't familiar with it, neither have any opinion on it.

My country only know Bts and Bp if they're not a kpop fans. Every male groups is Bts and every female groups is Bp. Overall, they view kpop as a cult with satanic followers

For people in my generation it's just another genre and I think it's not as stigmatised as older people make it out to be. It's normal to have a couple of kpop songs on your playlists. The DJs are quite savvy though, I once hear a remix of ASAP by StayC that floored me, it was so LUSH

women worship them

men ridicule them

Well kpop will have to restart somewhere else. Because if we end up at war again I guarantee that a good majority of us Koreans will die in the fight and this includes most of the idols as we are required to serve in the military. Besides that a great deal of us are very patriotic of our nation despite it's numerous flaws, that even those that aren't required to fight such as our women would join us in battle, it would be similar to Ukraine where you have the majority of the population dedicated to your destruction.

Older people dont really know it, unless its entertainment for their kids.

I have a working colleague and a friend. They ask me once in a while about Kpop.

So then they can go to their kids and act like they are cool and know shit.

out of the 80 million population there is at least an 8yo, an 9yo and an 12yo who likes it. I cant speak for the whole country tho.

You've already got a huge head start on Ukraine. Your military is better trained, you have better weapons, you have a larger military and you have joint defense treaties with a lot of nations where Ukraine had none of that. The only hitch is president Biden would have to grow a pair and then remember to send us in us troops. I guarantee Japan and Taiwan will get there before the US. To be honest, I think South Korea has the balls go to it alone like Ukraine but you wouldn't have to.

America said it would defend us but with both China and north Korea having nukes they might back off the war un Ukraine shows exactly this wheb nato refused to engage with Russia for the same reason. You are misunderstanding one thing. If there is one thing the US won't do is not follow through on a joint defense treaty, especially in Asia. As for abolishing the non-nuclear proliferation treaties, do so. You have a right to defend yourselves. History has proven that obtaining nuclear weapons by state actors has a stabilizing effect on a region. Mutually assured destruction has a way of getting pissed off people to talk. Although, good luck getting a coherent conversation out of a communist.

As for Ukraine, letting them fight it out themselves is far more strategic because, the entire world got to see how shitty the Russian army is. The entire world got to see how shitty Russian weapons are (Russia used to be a HUGE weapons supplier). The entire world got to see it doesn't take a major world power to slap around commies. Make no mistake about it, Putin still carries his commie card and admires socialism...

My metro area is pretty diverse so the opinions will vary. There are tastemakers who are open to K-Pop if the music and beats are d0pe (a la KARD, CL, Jessi, EXO, etc). Of course people know BTS and Blackpink gets blasted in the streets.
