What's the last book you finished?

  • Since many here don't read English books and therefore might not know the English title of the book, pls only refer to the author

I finished a book of Haruki Murakami yesterday and have another one to read by him. I tried another book (I forgot the author's name) but I hated it so I put it away and decided to focus on books I need to read of authors where I allready read books from to be sure that I would like it more and besides one book I read and didn't liked I think I like books of Murakami more right now.

  • I've heard good things about Haruki Murakami! I keep thinking I should check out 1Q84, but it's a doorstopper of a book.

I'm slogging through the end of Simon Jimenez's The Spear Cuts Through Water. The last arc slump is real in this book. It wasn't too bad to this point, but it's an abrasive book and I'm not sure who I'd recommend it to anyway.

Next on my list is the new League of Legends book, Ruination. I think there might be a few LoL books? Goodreads makes it hard to tell what's an actual novel versus supplementary material for fans of the original game. Have you read any of them Yunathehomegirl ?

I have not read the ruination book yet, but I've heard good things about it on reddit such as cohesive writing & good plot :melon_think:

I don't really read that much bc i don't have time (plus im forced to read science journal articles all the time for class), but let me know how it is if u read it! :pepelove2:

I used to love Murakami and enjoyed several of his novels (A Wild Sheep Chase is his best in my opinion). Norwegian Woods traumatized me and 1Q84 was probably the last novel by him I will ever read.

I am reading a Thai translation of a Japanese novel called ‘Kono Hon wo Nusumu Mono wa’ by Nowaki Fukamidori. It’s pretty chill despite it being a fantasy. Half way through.

I also recent finished An Immense World by Ed Yong about animal senses and how they experience the world. The man is a gifted writer and it really opens your eyes to how valuable all animals are in their own way to the ecosystem and earth. Too bad we are already in the midst of a sixth mass extinction….

Lastly, a book from last year that made me feel all the emotions and had me crying as I read was: How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu. I recommend it but won’t say anymore to spoil.

Yes, I've since seen some contradictory comments on the subreddit for books, so now I'm not sure. My stack of books is so large right now that I don't plan to prioritize his.

Ooh, I have that on my list of books to suggest to my IRL book club. (We pick the next read by people making suggestions and then voting on them.) Glad to hear it's good!

  • Science Education In The Early Roman Empire by Richard Carrier

As the name suggests, it's not a novel, but a very interesting and, pun intended, educational read.

  • My last book I finished was 'The Eagle's Prey' by Simon Scarrow, he's one of my favourite authors when it comes to historical fiction.
