Usually if your condition makes you vision below a certain level without glasses it's possibly disqualifying even in the US. Presumably because if your glasses or contacts are damaged to lost in a life threatening situation then you're screwed.

I never knew my condition was that serious. I have an astigmatism too! I am definitely not a shining example of the best of natural selection with such piss poor vision. Thankfully I look super cute in glasses.
