Hard to swallow pills: Some K-pop fans don't really care about their group/K-pop.

  • I've noticed these types of fans a lot.

Success stans: there are the fans that will stan a group cuz their group is "the best". They are obsessed with the superiority complex of "my group is the best and they're better than your group" so much that when their group doesn't do as well they will have a nervous breakdown. They will grasp at straws to either make excuses or drag other groups down. This happens because they don't care about the group, they care about the superiority complex that group will make them feel. Like they're better than everyone else cuz their group is better.

Bad akgaes: Now there can be good akgaes but not talking about them. These fans are similar to the success stan in that they are obsessed with their member being the best and or being "mistreated" by the company. Sometimes the mistreatment accusations are true but either way hating on other members doesn't help. A bad akgae is just inherently illogical. Their stan is in a group, hating on other members, and sewing discord in the fandom doesn't help their bias. Why would you want the group your bias is in to fail?

Fantasy stans: These are the stans who are a stan cuz the group/bias member fulfills a certain sexual fantasy of theirs. These are the people who either make erotica of their group/bias and deepfake porn or partake in consuming it. They're the worst cuz they don't see the group as human beings but rather as a sexual fantasy to partake in. Cuz if I cared about a group the last thing I would do is consume porn made with their image and without their consent. Most fans don't wanna admit this cuz they consume fan fics on the regular (which automatically puts them in this category) but the truth is the truth.  Fan fics arent bad in general cuz some of them are non-sexual and that's fine. But the sexual ones are not.

Anything else that I missed? Comment below.

  • CASUAL STAN as well: i stan few groups but i dont have enough time to hype them always. but when i do i do it the right way.

I don't consider them fake fans, if anything I consider them a good fan. Not everyone has the time to dedicate it to kpop, as long as they're not toxic don't see the issue.

  • what about pity stans? :pepe-tea:

seen so many people fake stan a member or group just because they get hate or are "underrated" :pepe-magnify:

    LAFBL0s.gif

let us gather around for the lord’s prayer:

Nævis we love you. You are the one who protected me when i was in trouble. MY victory, one SYNK DIVE. I know your sacrifices. Let’s meet surely after the resurrection.

    Æmen

  • I find I'm not really into my bias groups as much as I used to be and just find myself casually listening to new material. I have been a fan of K pop for nearly 11 years now - a damn long time and longer than I've ever followed anything. I guess the novelty has worn off.

that's normal, im not into anime like i used to be. doesnt make you a fake fan, youre just less of a fan and thats okay. we wont like the same thing forever. we change with time

I never said I was a fake fan - that's something I've never been and yes it is ok to change over time. I am 54 now so can't see myself listening to K pop forever. There comes a time to grow out of everything eventually.

  • How about karen stans?

The one who always complain about what the labels should do - promote more, release this b-side as tt, change make up styles for idols, change concept, no digipack, more digipack, XX needs more lines, XX needs less lines, etc.. and always, always think their fave is mistreated or the least fav in the company/group.

It’s good to complain for really huge blunder but for small things and everything.. I feel like they should just start their own label since they know everything.

omg yess the “I hate it when companies don’t listen to ifans it’s almost as if being famous in Korea is more important” fan because their bias is a visual and lead dancer and got 6 less seconds of lines than the main vocal

  • Well I feel like the more common one than sexual fantasies is "romantic/friend fantasy", or I like the idol's perceived/fandom personality so much. That would fit me and I would consider it not really caring about the group/K-pop just the idea of them.

Edit: Basically just basic parasocial relationship stuff

  • May i ask what happened to this generation? Why is this generation so damn weird when it comes to sex? I feel like we're turning back the clock and going back into the stone age Victorian era, when everyone pretended that sex didnt exist.

Did i miss the memo? Like when did it become socially unacceptable to have sexual fantasies about your favorite celebrities? It's literally 100 percent completely and utterly normal to do this, it's literally HUMAN NATURE. EVERYONE DOES THIS, especially when you're in your teens, 20s and 30s. When i was a kid, everyone openly admitted whom they found hot, the boys were always talking about who they wanted to ****, and i heard my female friends talking about their crushes, real or celebrity, in the same manner.

Kind of see both sides to the argument. You can be sexually attracted to an idol just as much as you would any celebrity, and as long as your civil about it, should be allowed to declare it. I don't see any harm in declaring that you find XXXX hot or sexy and the very occasional comment about them in a sexual manner if its in context and audience appropriate. It's a little odd how some K-pop fans get SUPER offended at ANY sexualisation of their faves, as if their faves are some chaste monk or nun always dressed in form hiding robes or something.

But the thing is, while declaring that you do find XXXX super hot or sexy and the occasional comment here and there about their amazing abs or butt should be ok, I think OP is talking about the idiots that take it way way to far, where the sexualisation of the idol is the main point of their stanning. To the point where it gets weird and very very very creepy and gross (like the deepfake porn and fanfics that you release publically etc).

  • Mommy Dearest: A kind of variant of the parasocial, overly attached stan that becomes the worst ever helicopter mom to an idol. My chosen idol or groups are innocent, vulnerable naive babies. They could never ever do anything bad ever and the world is such a terrible horrible place that is out to get my babies. They must be shielded from EVERYTHING and me, mommy dearest fan, is the ONLY person who can do it. I must react in an extreme manner to ANY ill word or slight against my precious baby. Any negative news about my baby, no matter how minor or true (or both) is WRONG AND FALSE and my precious baby could NEVER have done that because they are so cute and soft and cute and innocent and cute. When my baby does even the most trivial of adult tasks, like basic cooking or cleaning or even dressing themselves, they are a complete genius, the greatest person to have ever done that task and I must tell everyone in a completely patronising way.

Dude, the number of people who write and read y/n x idols, draw lewd fanart, and literally use deepfake to create porn depicting female idols makes it obvious people are becoming anything but more prude.

Imagining screwing anyone is incredibly disgusting. Doesn't matter if they're celebrities or not. And everybody doing something doesn't make it unproblematic :pepestare: like what?

  • when everyone pretended that sex didnt exist.

...what...bruh...wtf? like the fact that you said that says lots about your character (and none of it is good).

It is NOT okay to use people's images to make PORN without their consent. You can fantasize all you want and talk about how your bias is hot. That's fine. I was explicitly talking about PORN, either deepfake or EROTICA.

Which is NOT the same thing. So either you didn't read it or you think it's okay to make porn about someone without their consent.

Imagining screwing someone, if kept in the confines of your own mind, is completely fucking normal. Sexual fantasies are NORMAL and almost everyone has sexual fantasies. It is NOT disgusting to have fantasies for the most part. Thinking that having normal, healthy sexual fantasies is disgusting IS prudish.

God Damned Marge Simpson would fantasise about burly paper towel models.

Where I do agree is when people make those fantasies public and "who write and read y/n x idols, draw lewd fanart, and literally use deepfake to create porn depicting female (AND male) idols " which they also make public. That is wrong and gross (but personally, I don't see to much problem writing a sexy story about Wonho, a can of whipped cream and a private yacht IF you ONLY write it for your own eyes).

agree, god knows my fantasies are fucked up but I keep them inside my head. By the other guys' logic (BlackpinkHouse) if I find someone attractive it's acceptable to tell them my fantasies about them. Cuz otherwise it's "victorian".

I've had guys send me sexual messages and stuff cuz they think the same way. That's not okay. It wasn't okay to do to me and it's not okay to do to celebrities. Like we all have fantasies, we are all horny, but it's not okay to share your sexual fantasies about someone without their consent. Is this so hard to understand?

  • Bruh that guy literally got me double-checking my own post. Like I was very specifically talking about deepfake porn and erotica so like.....I guess that makes me victorian. I missed the memo where it was okay to use people's images to make literal porn without their consent.

honestly, i think most male k-pop fans are okay with this kind of thing :pepestare: maybe not all going as far as accepting deepfake porn but the way it's ingrained into people's minds to use others for their own selfish ends is just :toxicpepe:

there are literally people who voluntarily engage in porn as actors. models who specifically pursue erotica, erotica literature that doesn't depict particular people... there are ways to get off that don't involve involving people who didn't ask to be involved :pepe-life-support: why obsess over some specific person who doesn't even know you exist? that's stalker behavior and unhealthy. doesn't matter how many people do it. millions of people are alcoholics - just because something is "normal" doesn't mean it's not morally problematic.

these are the same guys that send unsolicited dick picks and sexual messages to girls thinking it's okay. I've experienced it, I have all my social media private but I still get messages on FB from creepy guys calling me sexy and shit. it doesn't matter that I don't have a suggestive profile picture.

They see a female on the internet and they think they have a claim to us. They see us on the street and they think they have a claim to us. Not saying female kpop stans are better, there are some that post erotic fan fiction (erotica is also porn btw) but my harassment IRL and online comes from 99% guys.

Sorry i just wanted to get off a good rant, i can't quibble with details X(.

Nah sorry, you ARE a prude.

Do you genuinely, honestly think that things like "the hottest kpop idols of 2022" lists are created and voted on without a shred of sexual fantasy behind them? Do you truly think Wonho posting thirst traps on Insta or Bibi lap dancing with an audience member doesn't include an element of fantasy to it?

Can you tell me where the actual harm is if you have private sexual fantasies about an idol or celebrity and keep the thoughts to yourself? Who, exactly, are you harming? It is not stalker behaviour/unhealthy, that is absolutely ridiculous.

And morally problematic? Under which moral doctrine? If its at all biblical or religious, into the trash it goes.

  • no, stop trying to save your ass. I was talking about PORN. People making porn with idols' images and posting them online. You called me "victorian". Not the same thing.

To be fair, I think they were kind of just throwing it out there. They didn't direct reply/quote you, so I didn't interpret that as calling YOU Victorian specifically.

Their post was quite random though and took this post way off topic.

  • I'm not going to explain the negative and unhealthy implications of sexual fantasies to a grown ass adult online... Dismissing views that make you think critically about what goes on inside your head with insults like "prude" (which, btw, is an outdated term itself) is childish. Keep trying to toss out disputes that make you question your nasty actions, the only ramification of it is on your character - but there's not much left to destroy there, ig.

    lol ok champ

You'll find most Sex Therapists and Psychs will say reasonable sexual fantasies (as in not about kids, animals, extreme violence etc) are fine and healthy and normal.

Meanwhile you out here being thought police and imposing your own, quite confused, morality on others.

    You do you.

Same and I'm still technically a child

It's just accepted because men will somehow always manage to be more violent and aggressive about their supposed "right" to be sexually abusive and delusional than women's protests over it

everytime there's progress for women's liberation, people will find someway to further capitalize on the exploitation of women

    deepfake porn is an example

BP are successful women who have become popular despite the misogyny they constantly face, and then people use them to fulfill their perversions X/
