I'd like to see. Maybe if Universal reports their sales (?)
Is there a chance for THE ALBUM to be on IFPI's Top 10 albums of 2020?

It's the artist chart that's out. Album chart not yet released so of course there is a chance!

I hope so. I've been thinking about it for some weeks before the list is out. I'm expecting that maybe their chinese sales count.

The album chart only takes into account pure sales (both digital and physical). So if they do indeed report Gaon + china numbers and IFPI does not weigh the chinese sales in any way. Than yes they have a shot, as their pure number is probably around 2.6-2.7M (gaon + china).
So yes they have a chance if their chinese sales are counted fully.

I'm already praying for them to count the chinese sales

I believe it is close to the UWC Chart
This is the 2019 UWC Chart in comparison to the IFPI one IFPI
If they take the Chinese sales into account they might be above NCT or around it so there might be chance!!
Hopefully we see more non-English artists on these lists for 2021
Thank you for the clarification
With this thread I see that it really depends on the chinese sales
-
I doubt it.

honestly i doubt so

a few scenarios, depends upon how Chinese sales will be counted (since IFPI counts them)
1. If the Chinese sales are not weighted and counted as they are then they might have a chance.
2. If Chinese sales are weighted then they might have a chance if the cut off turns out to be low (because I presume they will have 1.4-1.7M sales.
-
Maybe NCT can get get in if they counted Resonance as whole, That's around 2.5M+ physical sales + Digitals
There's a chance if Chinese Sales are weighted, BP could easily get in. I don't know what is the cutoff?

I was thinking about a #3 scenario now. If they don't count chinese sales, but BP entering in the list because of their korean sales alone are enough. But depends on the competition, I guess. Its more unlikely.

Does IFPI count Standard + repackage together? It's a possibility, tho

If They count Eminem's release like "Music to be Murdered by" and "Music to be murdered by Side B". The first one has 20 tracks, other one has total of 36 tracks including 20 from the previous one with additional 16 tracks. Repacks usually have no more than 8 songs. So if they combined Eminem's album then they will have to put Resonance as one.

Right! Thank you

They’re number 28

It’s probable that NCT might make it above BlackPink but that depends on how well other artists have done. For sure we’re gonna see at least one entry for BTS, Taylor Swift and my assumption is we’ll see Harry Styles. If they combine NCT’ albums that might be enough to pull them into the Top10. How much did BP sell in China?

Both BTS albums will likely make it. so thats 2 spots to BTS. Taylor will likely get folklore and maybe evermore (not sure about evermore cause it was released so late).

I'm not sure about evermore too because of the release's history. The first week was only digital. When the physical release started, it was already almost late december. It might prejudice.

I'm burning all the non blinks, cause not stanning bp is a heresy
