Can we collectively agree that 2016-2018 was the most toxic period in modern KPOP

I'm assuming the EXO/BTS/BB fanwars were pretty epic as well? That's what current Kpop is missing, a super toxic BG fanwar. You almost never see MOAs, Engenes, Stays, Army, NCTzens, Carats fighting on here.

I think its still continuing till this day and didnt stop at 2018

From 2016 till now, stan twitter emerged, kincels become more active on commenting on idols and these two factors together have been a huge negative

The hate BTS got from 2015-2018 was fking horrible with actual death threats, jpn nazis and kpop stans getting involved to demonize BTS in jpn, kpop stans hate towards them esp high rocketed when they got recognised in US. Overall I would say it was also a time where the competition was intense with groups like BTS,EXO,BP, TWICE, WANNAONE etc- this could also be partially why they got hated so much cos it was a peak of popularity for many of the groups at that time

Even with hate, BTS has to be extra. Besides the usual racism from western media, jealous kpoppies who rather side with racists than supporting an Asian act, I never thought I would see Nazis and left wing Japanese bigots joined in the BTS hate. Jimin was targeted so bad, it was crazy.

Anyway, we have modern kpop and ancient kpop now?

oh god these were soooo bad!!! But tbh I don't feel we are past that level of toxicity in its alot less and their are more sane people welling to talk against toxic people or are being nice so it's alot more evened now

I honestly think K-pop fandoms nowadays are even more toxic. Almost everyone on any SNS is a music critic, a dance analyzer, a vocal and rapping expert, and they are constantly shady to groups and idols they don't like. And the amount of nitpicking about everything, cancelations, etc is unbearable.

True. Even back then when I still didn't care about kpop, I know some of it because it passing through my timeline and the news site. Mainly the hate and threat to Jennie back then.

Back then when you shade or talk shit about someone's favs, they gonna strike back at you by doing the same.

Now from what I've seen, they don't do that anymore and instead they gonna report and block that account.
