What will Korea's collapsing population mean for Kpop?

I'm with you alot of the time, but this is way to geopolitical for me who just wants to talk about Korean Music

My country has 45 M population in a 2.78 Million scuare mt territory

S. Korea has 51 M populaton in a 100 K scuare mt territory

and they gonna create a literally Idol school...

We are already seeing it's effect. Lim Young woong has the biggest fandom in korea and others like Kim Hojoong equally amazing with his fandom taking over charts. Koreans will consume more mature music in future if they aren't already doing it. Kpop groups will have to adjust to that with their songs. Girl groups can still thrive but boygroups need to stop their tryhard music.

I think it’s too soon to guess. People have been talking about Japan’s declining birth rate for many years and I don’t see a massive pop culture shift there yet but I’m not as on top of Japanese trends.

The question I wonder is how gg change and adapt. Bg have shown they can still drive sales and tours whether or not they are on the charts and most of the industry’s building blocks are still relevant - fans continue to support these artists with their $$ even as they get older.

We know that gg typically have shorter longevity and don’t have those long term fanbases. Since gg are much more dependent on the GP for success, where does it leave them if the GP isn’t there? Or are we at the start of a paradigm shift? Now that we’re seeing the era of gg that move like bg, from tours to album sales, will we see that translate into the same longevity?

so the solution is for GG and BG to start dating and eventually produce more kpop idol babies?

I know the population is declining and has been declining for many years, however, we haven't seen a massive cultural shift yet there, as has been predicted. (That I'm aware of. I could be wrong.)

Nothing.. Japan survived and only recently formally accepted foreign workforce allowing them to renew their visas indefinitely, they would be fine..

If you compare how many kpop groups actually debut per year compared to the number of those whose existence we even notice let alone actively talk about, it's all but impossible to really feel the effect. It'll take at least 20 years for it to really effect kpop.
