Are Visual and Maknae important positions?

Not really actually sometimes it happens but not always, fotg is usually the center but not always the visual
For example
BTS- Visual: Jin FOTG: Jungkook Center: JK
BP- Visual: Jisoo FOTG: Jennie Center: Jennie
Enhypen- Visual: Sunghoon FOTG: Jungwon Center: Jungwon/Heeseung
Thats just for the groups I’m a fan of.

If you think of idols as musicians/dancers only, no. However, for Koreans having a clear hierarchy is important as well, so making maknae position clear is "needed". There is a fantasy aspect to maknae role too.
Visual seems a bit odd, but it makes sense as visual is important and big part of idol culture. The person holding it just means he or she embodies the ideal of the Korean beauty standard the best in the group, not that others aren't visually attractive per se.
Positions aren't important per se even main dancer or main vocal designation, as sometimes some of them may get this official designation, but they may not get highlights for dancers or that many lines for vocals. It's just to make clear to the public as they love hierarchy than just indicate skill or merit. It's just marketing.

i get that visuals are important in kpop but i don't get the official part. it's like they are telling me who should i find the most attractive and good looking because i'm unable to decide it by myself. korean beauty standard doesn't fit mine, in 99% of the time other members draw my attention. i find official visuals forgettable

I guess you can say that Jennie is FOTG and Center but I don't think that's official...correct me if I'm wrong please.

Maybe. I don't think that method would work for being born at the exact same time because there is Korean age. For example, Chaeyoung of Twice called herself a maknae because she was born in the same year as Tzuyu. They were both born in 1999 so they are the same age because they turn a new age at the very first day of the year though they do celebrate their birthdays. They are both 22 in Korean age. I think that's how maknaes are decided but also they keep in mind of the birthday as for giving it as their official maknae positions.
