I’m aware that they exist, but they don’t really have many consistent updaters etc. kinda surprising to me as another forum refugee lol
are group threads not really a thing on akp?

We have guilds. So group threads are not active.

thanks for the info! I didn’t know what a guild even was

The closest we have is guilds but the only real active ones are the NCT exo forums.
I know that it's weird when old akp and that other forum official threads were very active.
But users here like messing around they dislike structure and organisation the concept just hasn't work no matter what I tried to make it work lol. I would just delete the section at this point.
I see
guilds are probably closer to that.
but it’s nice that the main forum is active

Actually I quite liking a specialized thread just to post an update there, kinda like a bulletin board. Rather than a one for all thread to updates and discuss.
But yeah seems like a guild (like the megacurch, blinks, neocity) could handle that, I just didn't know at which point it could be upgraded -
My suggestion would be to add the Artist Section (Group Threads) to the Kpop forum as a subsection i.e. dumpster files, netizen noise etc. this way more people would be able to see the thread updates on the top of the page, and not have to move to another forum to access it (people are lazy lol)
but if that doesn’t work, maybe you’re right and these new 4th gen fans don’t care for cohesive update threads.

I'm also of that opinion, I think these guilds are killing activity on the main forum.
Yeah I've also heard people say they would straight up leave if it wasn't for the guilds. They are kind of a safe space from the toxicity that is on the main forum sometimes (that's how they perceive the main anyways. You or others might feel differently).
I'm not providing a solution or anything, I'm just saying that some of those people don't really want to post on the main to begin with if you feel.

And that's exactly where the problem lies that Guild's have taken users away in general from the main traffic bringer.
When we first started the forum guilds weren't as active so we had a huge post count in kpop section. But now users have 'safe space' to spam and not contribute to the website.
And it hurts the website overall.
Users have always complained about toxicity and said they're leaving etc you can't change that. But guest count and new users has dropped dramatically in the past 6 months. And the post count a day here is around equal with guilds.
So one could argue that .
But ofc I get that we love guilds hence why I wish we could come to a compromise but it's difficult cause users whine so much.
You're missing the point though. Is it really taking away traffic if people don't want to post in the main? I don't think some would want to post regardless if guilds existed or not.

I would agree with you in some respects to that

also, in general millennials liked forums, whereas gen z seem to much prefer Twitter and other social media, so forums have sadly taken a hit across the board even if K-pop has grown.
I have a kpop Twitter account too, but I think it can kind of because an echo chamber of the fandoms you follow, it’s nice to have a space to converse with people of different fandoms in a peaceful way, which is why I love forums.

tbh a group's update in main is quite useful to me, mainly for a groups or acts that I didn't know of. It makes me aware of that groups or acts' updates, like that one time a user creating a thread asking do people know J-Hope is releasing JITB. I wouldn't know if there were no updates almost everyday in main
Or when bartkun making a thread about updates for many kind of ggs. Or Kard's cb.
But yeah it may be scattered though -
same, that's why I'm staying here
