NewJeans fill a void for some 2nd-gen enthusiasts

  • Maybe it's just me, but as someone who missed out on most of 2nd gen and only got into it in 2013, NewJeans takes me back to the simpler melodies and elaborate MV storytelling.

The casual outfits, the relatable everyday settings, etc. I'm not sure if I saw a single piece of designer clothing in those videos. If there was, it was subtle enough.

Of course, not all 2nd-gen enthusiasts will agree with me on this, but maybe some of you could vouch for me if you can relate!

Something about the songs and MVs remind me of hits like "Ma Boy" by SISTAR19, for instance.

It’s a whole ass LVMH ad, from LV to Supreme to Marc Jacobs. All the usual labels in Kpop videos are here, most with the label prominent (I’m not even counting the stuff that’s not as obviously from a designer label.) One girl is wearing a whole ass jersey emblazoned with Louis Vuitton, just like they wear in the NCT Dream Glitch Mode video, in one video, people are wearing Miu Miu headbands and Celine hats. The shots are clearly showing off the designer name.

What I think is more interesting with their style is the blend of retro and trendy. There are the big label current trends mixed in with some lower key sportswear brands - like there’s Autry hats (retro inspired sportswear - about $72) mixed in with $500 Celine ball caps.

Oh, I clearly wasn't paying enough attention, then. ^^ I usually notice these things right away.
