The ad aside, the first video there is Aespa's (it's not like that for everyone) The first video is totally different than the search. People are wondering what's wrong with Youtube's searches

1. We're not talking about the promotion, so why is this happening? What tags did they use?

well for me it's a normal thing, why they are looking surprise or try to act like it's some kind of weird strategy

just right now i was searching NCT on youtube to listen 7th sense and the first MV who came out as a search result for NCT was Enhypen new cb and Aespa girls MV

the new algorithm of Youtube just recommend you i guess the recent popular kpop song release recently when you're searching for another kpop group

Yeah, this is a thing, but not for just Aespa.

I've seen this happen for other groups, and I don't know wtf is up with YouTube's everchanging algorithm.

It does get annoying though when you search a certain group or song, but that's not the first result. It's like, why do I have to scroll for this?! Especially when the account and videos I am looking for has millions of views and subs. Like...?

Why it does that, I have no idea, but I wish YouTube would fix it. When I was trying to find NMIXX fancams, all kinds of other groups where mixed in, and I was not pleased.

It's the algorithm people. It pays attention, not just to a video you watched when you searched a term, but videos you watched after that too. I'm sure it started as the algorithm picking up that people who watch Blackpink videos probably often watch aespa videos or even videos from the SMTOWN channel so it was probably in the suggested videos. (Newly uploaded videos always get a higher ranking in the algorithm as well.) Once it goes viral like this, the more people that are searching for "Blackpink" and clicking on the aespa video then the algorithm is going to connect it together even more.

When I searched for Blackpink earlier after that anon thread I had an ad for Life's Too Short, but I also had an Everglow MV, an NCT video (Jaehyun's Milan vlog) and even SF9's highlight medley. When I searched for BTS I had two Enhypen videos. Searching for aespa gave me Taeyeon.

itzy actually gives me a bunch of "oh my god what the fuck is happening to itzy" videos.

These are my results, showing how aespa tops the itzy search and comes in 3rd for Blackpink (and funnily an itzy related video gets there)

But it can't even be personal viewing preference influencing the algorithm because I don't watch aespa videos much at all, and when I do, it's on an adblocked incognito window to prevent view being counted/affecting my recommendeds.

So theres a different element of the algorithm impacting our different results.

Ok when I look for Blackpink, I get all BP contents (like the Lisa ad, and Blinks being weird by making Lisa look like Momo)

So no aespa. But when I search for Itzy, I got aespa’s new video as the fourth video. But note there’s a MV ad for a GG I never heard of
