Ofc it’s my assumption just from the concept pics. I have not checked out any new groups who do dark concept… but I feel like this is very different so far. There is no leather, no harness that I usually see sported in “dark concepts”. Is j-hope gonna do a real dark concept aka talk about real dark feelings???
Is it me or is j-hope giving us an entirely different version of what dark concepts mean in kpop? (Need opinions)

I agree, its more in line with grunge, wetsern aesthetics then what is tradionally considered a "dark" concept in kpop - which is usually more sexualized

He might pull out some sexy dance moves thou, although I won’t complain… it’s intriguing indeed how the vibe is diff so far

This is kinda like horror concept. It feels very creepy, spooky you may call. There is a group called VIXX who used to something along these lines but I don't know alot. ZombiePopsicle might know since they follow a lot of soloists.
But yeah is very different and unexpected. Mainly because it's J-HOPE. I didn't expect this type of "dark" concept from him.

It's like Zombie-ish + Dystopian concept from the looks of it.
I am intrigued by this concept photos. It has lot of potential. Never thought J-Dope would be trying these type of themes etc
-
I can think of many attempts at dark concepts that went way beyond surface level traditional aesthetics.

DPR Ian is the first soloist that comes to mind when I think of spooky since he's kind of tiptoed into the horror concept but it's not too gory. He seems to be continuing that concept for his upcoming album as well

yes def horror!!! so far the genre of the song has not been announcement.... it would be interesting if it turns out in the genre u mentioned

You mean, that he doesn't use dark aesthetics for sexy feel of it? Well, yeah. But it's Hoseok, even tho sex sells and brings attention with an ease, if you look at how he does things he very rarely uses this easy tool: Daydream, Airplane, CNS, stages for Just Dance or MAMA, even his dance parts in dance breaks on award shows are not some typically sexy things which are expected from kpop idols. The only more or less typically sexy one was Boy Meets Evil, but even in this one we have literally 1 bodyroll throughout the whole routine which is more about complexity and storytelling than about sexiness. Hoseok knows how to do even typical things in not typical, his own, way so I ain't surprise although I kinda hoping for him to bring some horny stuff too
And yeah, I am pretty sure he is gonna talk about a lot of deep things, just like he himself said. -
He isn't the first one and many already showed reference.
My faves are VIXX dark concept, they are the kings of dark concept. Their music is great!!
And tbh even GD in his solos had some darkness, the thing is, in kpop teasers concepts are a little different from the sound sometimes so I'm interested about his music.
Oh, and T.O.P too.. it's a common concept with the old groups/soloists.
And btw, he looks so fine like daaaaaamn, calm down kkkkkkkk
-
It a jhope thing.... Being creative
-
I feel like this is pretty common look in khh/kr&b... the monster looking people are a bit different.
The first thing that made me think of was this Simon Dominic video which has a horror concept.
tw: there's a lot of blood and dismembered bodies
