Guys, we all know plastic surgery is rampant in the industry.

All of our oppas and unnies, hyungs and noonas have had work done.

I do think there should be a cap on how many times you can have certain surgeries. For health (mental and physical) reasons, but other than that, why do we keep acting like this is news?

We know what this industry is. And most people could care less tbh. As long as their idols look pretty or handsome, they don't care. They only care when they start to look weird due to botched surgery.

Is PS really as widespread as some suggest? If some users were to be believed, 90% of idols have done something to their face. Yet I saw so many childhood pictures of idols that show they look the same.

From what I have heard, eyes and nose are common even amongst civilians. And you don't have to completely redo your face. It's the slight changes that are best and more difficult to point out.

Of course, idols also get less invasive cosmetic procedures like botox and fillers. I'd say the majority get work done, but if I named all the idols I think had work done, most of their fans wouldn't believe me or be able to see it anyway. So in the end, the only ones who really know are the idols, those close to them, the companies, and the surgeons. Fans cans only speculate (like most things tbh).

Alright. But I see many people speculate on surgeries that seem very heavy to me, like jaw shaving. To be honest, I don't know much about these surgeries. But it seems to me these things would leave scars, at least for a time? I mean, "jaw shaving" sounds like an insane thing to me.

The worst is when they speculate about such things for idols who already debuted and already are under the spotlight through promotions, variety shows, insta posts, v-lives, etc. How could they conceal such surgeries? Maybe I'm just not knowledgeable enough, but that doesn't rule out the possibility that many people see PS absolutely everywhere, wrongfully so.

Tbh i think people over analyze idols for everything but after debut they do very minor touch ups throughout the time (and while on hiatus and not promoting obv) so its easier on the eyes in a sense, its harder to spot the difference unless u go aaaall the way back to debut..but like it's okay anyway, they do them..its their face and body, i dont understand why anyone would hate them for their personal choices

not every surgery is obvious. tiny, tiny tweaks do wonders

a lot of idols did corner lip lifts, won't mention who, people will get upset. but if you start looking you'd get who they are

Sure, I don't think PS is a reason to hate on an idol. But I can understand if some fans are disappointed.

imo PS is a response to an insecurity, a lack of confidence. So I think it's natural to be disappointed if your fave felt unsatisfied by their looks when you on the contrary found them perfect the way they were. I would even say it might make you feel like you failed them as a supporter, as a fan. Something like that.

The most important thing of course is that they feel content with the result and don't regret their choice sometime later. If my fave did/does some PS and is happy with it for the rest of her life, then it's no big deal.

Scars can be edited out (basically all fan-taken photos are heavily edited), make-up can hide a lot, and, depending on the operation, some will leave scars on the inside not the outside. Closed nose surgery, for example, will leave scar tissue on the inside of the nose, almost invisible compared to the classic zigzag scar on the nose tip or the more prominent alar base incisions.

Jaw shaving is usually done on the inside of the mouth, so unless you're their dentist you won't see the scars.

As for recovery time, it depends on the person and how many procedures were done at the same time, but the stitches are taken out in about a week, and idols would be good to go (if you ignore the doctor's orders of no strenuous exercise). Swelling/bruises/redness will be handled by cooling the area, editing, makeup, and blaming lack of sleep/baby fat/salty foods

Ahhh, i'd suggest to any person who would get such an emotional response over what someone they don't even know does with their body to get help. Not healthy. We don't own idols to tell them what to do and it's unfair to hold them on a pedestral so high where such a human emotion like insecurity should cause disappointment to someone else..that's so weird.

It sounds extremely painful. I had no idea they could do it from inside your mouth. I always thoughy they like made an incision under your ear and went at it with a nail file like sanding machine or something.

Well, I didn't put the emphasis on me but yes, what I described mostly matches how I feel about PS.

Last year there were assumptions of PS about my faves and I didn't like it. I didn't like it because I felt people were just cluelessly talking out of their ass, but also because I hoped it was not true. To this day I'm uncertain whether she has done things or not; sometimes it looks like she might have, sometimes it doesn't. It's pretty unconclusive to me. But as I said, I go through my days just fine; I'm not obsessing over it. She's the GOAT either way, with or without PS.

Yeah, that's another thing that concerns me about surgeries. Like, how do they effect you when you're old and your body really starts deteriorating.

People have always claimed Janet Jackson had some of her ribs removed (seen the same rumor for one my faves), and I'm like...damn, if that's true, wonder how she's feeling now that she's almost in her 60s.

But why would it bother you? Her insecurities are her own. She's a human being, she's not perfect and no one should expect that of someone. These people are on the spotlight constantly and get scrutinized for literally every little thing, especially for their looks. Anyone potentially getting pressured by that isnt any less. People are far more complex than this.

From what I've heard, it's more hurtful then, say, a nose job, as you constantly use the mouth to eat, drink and speak, but it will be manageable with pain meds.

There is a risk of nerve damage and tension, although it is usually not permanent. It's what I think happened to Yuju.

Idols that have gotten extreme jaw shaves like Bom or done it more than once, like Yoona... I don't want to think of their bone quality later on, especially since their permanent diets will likely cause osteoporosis on top of shaved bones. Their jaws are going to be brittle.
