girls planet 999 had not 1, not 2, but FOUR stages, with different languages, a way better lighting, and better promotional material (about 2 lore videos) and way better hype for hosts. boys planet is ermmm not to mention their literal production being similar to pd101 (or even less) which was 6 years ago

now that 2022, the year of the ggs is almost ending, how do we rank bgs? (exclude bts, exo, svt!)

here's my personal ranking:

1. nct -> they're just too big and cater to so many demographics, while they haven't had many cbs, i think it's safe to say they're still at the top. (even just with album sales, but admittedly this just might be the sm stan within me)
 
2. skz -> this one was a curveball. i genuinely thought that they would empty twice's hard earned money but talent does pull through! if i ran a kpop company i'd make songwriting a big part of training as well

3. enhypen -> straight boys win again. jk, while future-perfect was a flop, they still have other metrics pulling through for them

4. txt -> txt needs it boy yeonjun to pull more cbs! and shorter titles! and prettier names in general. their albums have become a mouthful. give me back run away!

5. ateez/treasure -> LET ME EXPLAIN. ateez, despite album performance, is really lagging behind these other groups in spotify numbers. like, they're half or less than half than the others. treasure on the other hand, despite subpar album performance, had darari as a sleeper hit and relatively bigger spotify numbers. i think while they're both 5th, by no means are they flopping. i take spotify seriously because they're both dependent on int fans. they just need a real title track hit with people other than fans!

doesn't aespa have a huge c-fanbase as well? i remember karina's cbar alone pulling 50k albums or smth cmiiw

how much did they sell? i personally think their performances weren't that good but i think it's just because they're newbies this survival show while debuted really won't be doing any favors for the girls or their chemistry moving forward

i am losing hope for loona and im so sad for them. orbits i can agree with u that they're selling well enough, but i think those sales don't matter if they don't translate to actual salaries for the girls (not paying an overworked chuu is a CRIME and putting ALL of them in so much debt as well)

but really, where else is there to go?

queendom 2 flopped for all the groups, therefore no mnet reality show
subunits and solos were already done, so there's not much hype if they choose this route
chuu is rumored to be leaving
people are moving on
do they even have cfs recently?

i blame mismanagement, but i honestly don't see their career progressing more than this to actually let them live off money even for just a few years

the holy trinity is no longer enough. when yngg debuts it's even going to be more of a mess. in my opinion, rankings should at least be a quintet. this is re: ive, lesserafim, newjeans being the trendsetters. unfortunately the bp-twice-rv hegemony had quite literally doubled.

(btw if stray kids gets 4th gen criteria for their achievements (g}-idle deserves that too.)

therefore, while i am a tokki (honestly i love all of them) successwise it should be ive, idle, and aespa (sorry hybe groups - but i just KNOW newjeans will destroy december and expect them to be 1 delulu speaking)
