Longevity vs peak becomes an irrelevant argument as the years go by. At the end of the day, you really can't compare songs that were released in 2017 and 2018 respectfully vs. a song released in 2020. You have to compare the overall statistics + factor in the year the songs were released and compare # of users/average # of streams and ULs of hit songs in certain years and etc. + so many other things which which would take a lot of time.
It's really up to people as to what songs they think had a greater impact in Korea.

No. Dolphin peaked at #9 on Gaon. Other songs like CU, D4 and RF peaked at 1 and spent several weeks atop the chart. Not to mention, Dolphin only has 11 weeks charted more than CU which was the longest charting GG song before it.
Y'all overestimate longevity. Dolphin fell off pretty quickly after the chart reform (cmiiw). It didn't even make Gallup's year end chart unlike D4 and CU which were #1 and #2 respectively. RF also charted for two consecutive years.
Dolphin is a big hit tho, def one of the biggest of 3rd gen.
Oh My Girl is only girl group which ranks in top 10 in terms of song charting for the longest on Melon
and to add even more cream to that, they have two entries with Dolphin and Nonstop
when none other gg is even there :)

Dolphin is not at the level of Cheer Up in my eyes.
Beyond the whole "peak versus longevity" debate, there's the subject of impact (an admittedly nebulous term, I admit), and Dolphin clearly does not measure up in that regard.
Remember that Cheer Up was the catalyst that cemented Twice's status as the "national girl group". Dolphin had no such effect on Oh My Girl's career. Dolphin also had no viral/meme/trending component like Cheer Up's "shy shy shy", nor did the song have memorable choreography.
In the end, if we're talking about true "iconic" level songs, we need to consider factors other than just charting.

At least NL and tomboy have only one year gap. But you’re not gonna compare 2018 hits to 2021 hits.
With the new chart reforms songs have a better longevity while until 2020 songs were topping the charts but rarely could spend more than 40 weeks.
The fact cheer up lasted a year, is really impressive.
