    Some do. Some don't.

  • It's a weird and sad mentality TBH. Using those moments to justify their hate comments towards other people's faves and then the cycle continues. It just keeps adding to the portfolio of past hate so we can justify the hate that they are showing to other groups and fans now. Also true on the victimization part. :pepe-comfy:

  • Really? I don't think anyone loves when their faves are genuinely hated by others and it's the HATE I'm focused on.

Now I think there are people who love confrontation and will go looking for "fight", but it's not so much about loving the hate rather than the anticipated satisfaction of "besting" the hater in some way. Believe me if they lose, they won't be consoling themselves by saying, "Well at least my faves are hated and I love that" No, they will only be happy if they "won' since they'll feel they squashed the hate/hater in their minds.

  • like do they like dragging the haters?? im not sure i understand, i sure don't like the feeling when someone says they hate my faves or that they make terrible music, i mean i hear it a lot with nct but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt me..

  • Some seem to think that it's a competition of sorts that you can "win". What both sides seem to regularly forget, is that what they're fighting over are real people and that this isn't an online game.

I'm speaking from the perspective that stans are a mixed bag, some being in it for the wrong reasons. They might see it as a game of bragging rights.

Of course, for the most part, those who genuinely love and appreciate their favorites will despise or, at the very least, be annoyed with the hate. They could also, as you said, look forward to "besting" the haters, but they don't actually like the hate itself.

Looking at the comments, to explain my point better I'll take the example that made me write this post.

In Anons IVE and Aespa fans were fighting who's the bigger it girl among the girls. And the arguments they were using were but this idol doesn't even get any hate so how can they be the it girl or the hate for this idol has increased more so they are a bigger it girl. It's not an isolated case. People being up hate for their faves here from twt just to fight the people they dislike from other fandoms or to victimize them. It rarely happens with groups imo but more with singular idols. Idk :shyr:

I get what you mean. I've seen what you're talking about. Seeing hate being used as a metric in such discussions made me think some stans welcome it as leverage for their own talking points.

You could also say some have a love-hate relationship with the hate itself.

Since being "IT" is seen as a status symbol and IT girls/boys are deemed to happen when everyone is talking about them, both good and bad, stans latch on to it like they do every other competition, no matter how minute. I mean, kpop stans will fight over a 3rd party internet poll. Nothing new. And overall, since sympathy tends to make people see others in a good light, certain stans crave situations where they can latch on to the sympathy wave and ride it to the end. Just like all things, there are legit cases and there are arm breaking reaches and to further that, some will milk it for all its worth*

True but weird behaviour. That's the people I was talking about in my post. Ofc not all fans do this.
