Cancel Culture run amok.

who are we cancelling today?

It's gonna be so much fun to live in the Orwellian world these people are building, where everyone is spying on and denunciates each other. They probably miss the Reagan years where people lost their jobs because of alleged sympathies for socialist ideas.

Depends. Kpop stans are as quick to cancel as to defend even when the person did something bad so it goes both ways.
Also there are sometimes actual reasons maybe not to cancel but to criticize.
Now if we are talking about the string of allegations against multiple idols coincidentally being released simultaneously then yeah let's see before canceling.
I firmly believe that all victims should be heard but here coupled with kpop fandoms and netizens being adamant to ruin idols/group's reputation, it's important to be careful (and not attack the alleged victims even when proven false, let's be bigger than this)

Not the same stans though. I've never cancelled anyone, I even defended multiple times idols I didn't even stan.

Sadly we live in world where it's "Guilty until proven innocent" instead of "Innocent until proven guilty"

-
I'm confused. Is it something that happened in KPOP or just in general?

At this rate I think everyone is a bully including you and me. We probably said something stupid cancel worthy when we were young

Agreed. Whilst I don’t condone people treated others poorly, it often crosses over into the realms of people literally being witch hunted for having different opinions. You even see it now in universities or in industries like the arts which proclaim to be open minded, people actually get fired or cast out for not agreeing on certain viewpoints. Like kids on TikTok gleefully burning JK Rowling books...
Maybe Soojin and others were nasty at school, maybe they weren’t. But a lot of people trying to condemn others are not doing it for noble reasons, it is so they can feel superior. Seeing Soojin apologise for normal thins like dressing a certain way or cursing made me feel uncomfortable.

This. and you don’t have to go far into their young lives. If you look at these cancelers’ accounts, you will find more hurtful things said or done than the thing they canceled others for.

Oh yes, book burnings. Always a good sign of things to come!
-
This isn't cancel culture. Cancel culture is ruining someone's career over their political or ideological beliefs. This is just exposing bullies.

It’s scary how these people don’t realise that they are the ones being intolerant. People say cancel culture doesn’t exist but people have even lost their jobs for saying they agree with JK Rowling here in the UK. It’s messed up.
Even if Soojin did behave badly at school, the idea that it should mean she loses her job years later makes no sense and the glee in which people are entertaining the possibility is bizarre. You don’t have to like someone, but it goes too far.
