I always prefer live performance than MV, because I prefer live vocals and their stage performance
I like watching the mv's but i also like watching performances and some fan cam's, i'm weird as in i can watch my faves mv's 100 times and never get bored lol. mostly up10tion's lol
but sometimes i do like to go and find performances from various music shows/kcon's and watch them. i like dragging my bestie LTMs_Sammi to metastream and watch things together, it's nice to do that with friends.

It depends on the group, some bring added value in a performance, others in their MV. For example in my case for my favs I prefer to watch Mamamoo or ITZY performances rather than the MV. And for Red Velvet and Taeyeon i prefer to watch the MV than performances.
However, that doesn't mean that I find the MV or performance sucks, I just mean that I find the added value greater. For example ITZY have great choreo so i think it's better to watch their performance rather than the MV, but the MV is still good. And for Red Velvet i prefer the MV, cause they give off a special vibe that's hard to replicate on stage, but I still like their performance.

I can watch certain performances and select videos over and over too. I get fixated sometimes. I have enjoyed watching stuff together with friends. I had a friend who introduced me to got7 that way. She showed me so much stuff that I eventually wore down and started stanning them lol .

oh, that's a good point. For groups that have particularly appealing choreo, I usually like to watch the dance practice over even the music show performances because the dps have a steady wide-angle shot that allows me to see everything instead of the crazy cuts the music shows do.

It depends.
On one hand, lipsynched performances are out of the question (unless it's a dance performance such as studio choom videos for example), so if there's no live singing I stick to the MV.
On the other hand, sometimes I simply hate the MV or the song might be heavily autotuned in the studio version so I can't enjoy watching the MV very often, in those cases I prefer watching performances.
