Why does everyone care so much about generations?

It's kinda funny to me tbh

we really out here turning kpop groups into pokemon

it's also funny when people expect generations to last a certain number of years…the concept of generations is descriptive not prescriptive

i never thought of it that way before

i thought it was a time stamp of eras

cause imagine in an alternatve universe where there is no Gens and eberyone is complaining that there should be so there really is no clear answer lmao

I never understood either. I'd imagine it's because people have an obsessive need to organize things. They find great comfort in being able to group things into certain categories. A lot of Kpop fans in general are like this. Just look at the way achievements are done, most of them are oddly specific. I remembered seeing an achievement like fastest growing MV that released on a Tuesday or something like that...

For the achievements of course..

There only seems to be a significant change every 10 years:

1997 - H.O.T disk daesang

2007 - Wonsoka

2017 - BTS takes over

2027 - ?

Personally, I don't care at all about it. Kpop fans have always this need to categorize groups : the generation, the concept, the sound, the popularity, the achievements, the visuals, the talent and the list goes on.

Generations exist everywhere outside of kpop... it's a cycle of life. Get it? It's something that just happens, nobody planned it.

It looks like it's time to bring out the chart again:

Kpoopies care for this shit because they are a bunch of teenagers with no much personality, so like they see everybody use a concept they start using it too. I listen new kpoopies talk about secong gen, third gen and other topics and im like: "Bitch, last year you dont even know one idol name and now you are talking like you were in Kpop for years" Or they talk about sales and shit and they barely have less than 10 albums. Fortunately, most kpoopies leave the stupidty when they grown, and those who dont end up giving pity in forums like this  

Because fans love to claim their faves achievements as their own so they will be like my group is the highest charting group for this generation or my group is the highest selling group fro this generation when in reality their group didn't break any records they're still achievements but they're not as big as this fans tries to make it out to be

You woke up and chose violence

I don't care enough about generations and I don't even want to understand when generations start etc

I feel like it started during 4th gen.

2nd gen and 3rd groups had no problem to co-exist even started because 3rd gen didn’t start to take over until 2016-17 since 2nd gen were disbanding or they were less active.

Now it’s complicate you can’t put group on like txt or SKZ with groups like BTS or 17 on the same boat the contrast is severe.

Add the fact 3rd gen groups are still active and dominating. 4th gen fans need to find a time limitation (i don’t even know if it makes sense tho) so they can claim certain achievements (i do it lol) because if we counted overall success it would be no fun since BTS would take all the records
