What criteria are people using for guessing this?
On what basis SHINee wouldn't have been successful in the present time? :pepe-cute:

Oh My Girl is up there
OMG is not a top group yet. They could easily get just another hit and end up like EXID

Sistar be paving the way for 4th Gen GGs as Starship NGG and people can finally shut up about 4th Gen having no good vocals

Everyone saying SHINee but why? They're super relevant even now
I think Super Junior would have the hardest time given ages
I know, right? They're relevant even now and they've been consistent with their popularity throughout the 2nd gen and 3rd gen eras so I'm totally confused that people are mentioning their names.

This is unrealistic. Super Junior was the first group to have a foreign member, the first group with a large number, the first group to have subunits, the first group to conquer variety shows and the pioneer of spreading hallyu in South East Asia. You can't just come up with a scenario where current kpop exists without them.

talking about relevancy but discarding Super Junior? Clown.
I didn't say they'd flop either I just said out of all the groups because of the age they'd be debuting they'd've had the hardest time getting new fans :C They're hella talented but I've seen a ton of people saying they won't check out/stan SHINee because the members are too old and Kyuhyun is even older than Jinki
Honestly I don't think there's any top group that'd flop. Some would maybe get to the top a tad slower than they did before or some even faster than in 2nd gen but I think they'd all get there

Super Junior became the "blueprint" of most of the kpop groups now: from large number of members; having foreign members; creating sub-units; guesting on variety shows for the public to be more familiar with them; being on rotation or active in solo activities while others are serving military to keep the group active, even if they are not complete. Like what Chounim said it's kind of ridiculous to say that they will flop in this gen when in fact they set the trend for other groups to follow to maintain the relevance and survive the entertainment industry. If we are talking about their music, no one's musical taste fully aligns with any one else. For me, I like their music. It may be too "old-fashioned" or too "K-POP" for some in this generation, but for me, it's something new. It's like a breather from all popular western-style music. Moreso, anyone can't deny the fact that KRY have wonderful voices. About age, their fans grew up and stick with them. There are new fans too. Age should not be a hindrance to continue what they want to do and achieve. I wonder if those people who dissed SJ because of their age will still support wholeheartedly their faves, once they get old.
