Is Starship the best mid company?

  • Starship still has a lot to improve but I think the best thing about them is that they NEVER miss in terms of music, at least you can always expect quality from them and you won't be disappointed.

Usually, they aren't cheap with their groups either, you can always expect highly aesthetic MVs and nice styling for the members, with great choreo.

However, sometimes their creative department get so freaking lazy and get way too much "inspo" from other groups, to the point that looks like they are copying. Fortunately that tends to be the exceptional times, but when they do it, its awful.

Overall their groups all have a distinct sound and image, and are well promoted, which explain why they are all doing so well. Cravity imo is the only odd one, imo it doesnt look like they have found their identity yet at all, but I guess it took a while for WJSN too, so there's still time.

We can't forget Boyfriend though. Sadly, they are usually forgotten by the kpop community even though they had likeable members and great music and concepts. The fairytale one still is one of the best in kpop imo and Witch is undeniably one of the best halloween songs we will ever find in kpop. Starship just seemed to gave up on them after Monsta X debuted and shipped them off to Japan...

  • not sure what happened with monsta x but sales wise they seam to be doing good, yes, the bar is on the floor, at least they didn't ruined their own group lmao

Basically when they were forming Monsta X they threw IM in there without him really having to do much everyone in the group treated IM like shit and he was even seen crying in episodes. Joohoney is the only one who started to talk to him and give him a chance. Yes they are all extremely close now but the way Starshit did that was so fucked up. All the boys were towards the end working hard to get that spot in Monsta X and they were close with everyone who applied and here they throw IM in the middle of it when there was a different rapper they could have used. It was just extremely shady of how Starshit did that, granted i'm glad they all get along now and IM is an amazing dude. Monsta X renewed their contract with them and seem to be going in the direction THEY want to go and their music is better than ever.

I also hate what they fucking did to wonho. that was just stupid.

They also had a part in the Produce scandal and knowingly knew shit and still did crap. fuck them.

I think this is one of the reasons they refused Kingdom, it's a Mnet show, and ever since their debut they always said filming No.Mercy was one of the worst things they ever done. No wonder they wouldnt want to film another Mnet show again.

For real, i don't blame them at all. I mean i only been into kpop since feb of 2020 and when I found monsta x i did watch the show and watching IM cry and how they treated him sucked so bad.

The company just sucks, the artists don't.

  • But in the case of Cravity, people said they are too inspired by Sm groups like Exo and NCT, but they’re doing well so maybe they should continue right. At the end as long as they’re making money it’s fine

I just think it's disappointing that they got in so many plagiarism controversies since debut. They had hype because they are a post pd group and already had a fanbase predebut. But Starship didnt thought carefully about what kind of group they would be and just debuted them fast after x1 disbanded. I think if they had given them something more unique, they would be more popular than they currently are.

I personally love Cravity's music, not all of it but a majority, I like that they are trying different things, however, I agree it doesn't feel ilke they found their identity/sound. It seems like every comeback is something different and new. I hate they are so badly hated on an always accused of things, it's really not their fault. But as far as personality and talent it's definitely there I love watching their footage. I hope they find what works for them!

Starship definitely thought "they already have a fanbase, let's just debut them fast for money". Sure at short term that was profitable but at long term? How can they stand out?

Thankfully looks like they learned from their past mistake and for Ive, the members were carefully selected, the song is unique, the concept is new (art noveau), the choreo also looks different from others, no wonder they stand out.

Cravity is mostly relying on the members and their music, but at first glance they just look like a generic group. Hopefully they will catch up in the future. They are the only SSE group that still lack a clear image.

As sad as it is and as much as I hate eto admit, I agree. They have visuals, personalities and talent, but the sound really is all over the place. Starship, hopefully, won't neglect them while they focus on IVE. They are supposed to come out with a part 2 to their recent album, so I'm anxious to see when that happens.

They still have time to develop their identity! They still are rookies, it's been just a year since their debut. But man it's still a pity that Starship damaged them by not planning better their debut.

I agree, looking at their horrible planning of Monsta x It doesn't surprise me. At least I feel like Monsta X is successful on their own and not because of Starshit, I will still hate Starshit for the shit they did to Wonho. When most groups protect their artist, all Starshit did was toss him aside, when he wasn't guilty than they offered him a solo, like he should have never been pushed out of MX. He's doing great as a soloist in a sister company and probably making the music he wants, but i'm still sad about how that all went down over a false scandal.

  • ive dorms are mostly thanks to Wonyoung and Yujin money/success tho. Starship is the same company that gave these dorms to cravity (group that also had produce members and some even debuted with x1 yet weren't able to make any money)

Starship is so dumb, Wonho still was working in the same building as MX even though they had a second building lol. They only created Highline to differentiate him from other Starship artists. The Starship sign was covered in his dance practice videos like?? Highline is just Starship in a wig.

I am glad both MX and Wonho are doing very well now and seem to be happy, so at the end I guess it was for the best, but ot7 ending was easily the worst thing I experienced in kpop. They were perfect as 7 but I guess all the good things indeed come to an end. I'm thankful for having experienced ot7. Looking at the "bright" side, it would have been worse if they had fully kicked Wonho out of the company, like how YG did to B.I

i'm just sad their solo careers out of starship don't seem to work as well, they needed the backing from a company but something may have happened since all of them left

Honestly their solos in SSE for whatever reason weren't doing well either..

I think the ggs overall have better dorms than bgs, WJSN's dorm for example was far more comfortable than Monsta X's at debut but maybe its also because of Yuehua.

oh yes that's very true if they had completely just done away with him so unfairly that would have been 100% worse. And I agree, I felt like they knew they were wrong as a company and to "make up for it" they offered him a solo contract and shit. Like why not just bring him back to MX? Sure they are doing exceptionally well now, but he was one of the most popular members and I won't lie his vocals are amazing. Eventually I got used to the group without him in it, but sometimes i'd watch older videos and just be like it really feels like something is missing from MX. I just wish companies (which some do, don't get me wrong like KQ) Valued their artists more than money, that they would bend over backwards, sure put a member involved in a scandal on hiatus while you get things cleared but do your part in getting the truth out there, protect your artist and if he's innocent then let him back in. I personally feel like KQ values ateez more than money, when Mingi went on hiatus they all kept us updated on how he was doing, KQ did not treat him like a disposable person and when he came back it was like he never left. I think every artist deserves to be treated as if they are valued and not just replaceable.

  • This reminds me of how Enhypen dorm who has the backing of both CJ and HYBE has to sleep in one room with a bunch of bunk beds.

Starship certainly has the ability to pay, considering how they manage to get award shows to nominate and sometimes win categories which only big groups should win and they somehow punch above their weight against the likes of NCT and SVT strangely

Actually,it's not a budget thing when it comes to hybe's groups. For the years of training and first year of debut, hybe makes their group share the same bedroom. They've mentioned this is a way for the members to grow closer and establish a better relationship.

Some weeks ago enhypen were talking about how they've picked roommates so maybe that means they've moved into a new place
