Is CL too ahead of the times?

How does she measure if she has achieved her goal? Does she have to become a big hit in the west? Are there any non-Asian female western rappers that have become a hit in East?

There is almost no possibility for non western soloist to make it big in the west even now

I think she just was poorly managed when she made her western debut. She debuted (essentially) with fucking diplo and skrillex which is embarrassing for her because they’re like c-list DJs and she’s the literal queen of k-rap but not my nor her name is Yang Hyun-Suk so I’m not gonna judge her on that. Also this album she just dropped is fire, but Americans aren’t about to be singing in Korean like in the car with their friends. I get wanting to share your culture, but know your audience too. She’s gonna have to do what Shakira does and basically fully drop Korean from her English releases until it’s mainstream enough.

Can I just say I was never amused by CL's whole "asian girls are quiet and submissive and basic so I'm going to show them I'm not like other girls" persona she had whenever she went to promote in the West?

All it did was promote stereotypes against Asian women (and before you come for me, I am an Asian woman) and she seemed too much like a "pick me" girl and not genuine.

There's a difference between saying "There's a stereotype that Asian girls are submissive and it's wrong. I'm here to change it" vs her saying "Asian girls are shy and obediant. A lot of Asian girls love being basic because it's safe."

Do you see the difference? Yes her breaking the stereotype is a good mindset but her words were insensitive point blank. I love CL, always have and continue to but she had a bad interview and it's rubbed me the wrong way. She can be talented and have a bad interview. Not discrediting her talent.

Not really badly worded when it was English interview. She said what she said. People got pissed and felt she was full of herself (just look at reactions online from both ifans and knetz).

He met those who accused him of that and they accepted his apology and decided to move forward… Why is she still associating with him in public a problem or you want to imply that she is condoning what he did ?
