I think it's because Teddy wrote her first couple songs. She wasn't under TBL as an artist though

Both debuted under JYPE (in somi's case she debuted with IOI and other projects but was officially a JYP artist) and then left for YG The Black Label which is like a YG sub-label directly connected to the main company (not like woollim being part of SM thing).

i'm asking for debuted artists, not trainees because that is way more frequent (like gdragon going from sm to yg or cl going from jyp to yg)

I don't recall Sunmi every moving to another big company. Might as well change the title to other than Somi lol

I think there's an element of, once they've put in their dues, they want more control over their work.

Artists like Lee Hyori, Hyuna, Tiffany Young, etc. could almost certainly be picked up by major labels. (And I'd even say there's a strong argument that Lee Hyori counts, considering she went from DSP when it was part of the Big 3 to Mnet/Stone Music Entertainment to become, at the time, the highest paid female singer.) It's just a matter of balancing the resources that a major label brings with the level of control they want over what they promote.

Sunmi was never under TBL. TBL producers just worked on her music while she was signed to another label.

DSP used to be big 3 so both Sechskies and KARA's Han Seungyeon. Both Sechkies and Han Seungyeon are under the YG umbrella now. Seungyeon is an actress though.
