(Philosophical Question) How come it is easier to fill a Japanese Stadium/Dome than a Korean Stadium?

I wonder how companies keep track of demand. The tickets are gone so fast I wonder if they couldn't do more concerts or bigger venues.

first korea has half the population of Japan

second, something I notice but not 100% sure is that Korea don't have the same concert going culture like Japan or the US.

In japan and US, people can or will go to concert even if they not a fan or the artist. they will go if they like a few song or like a group/friend activity. whereas in Korea, people usually go if they are a fan. Something that was confusing to me years ago was when Sistar was holding concert at 2000-3000 venue when they were on top of the digital chart. I notice that fandom driven artist give bigger concert than public friendly artists even when the fandom artist has abysmal digital chart.

Japan has a bigger concert culture and casuals spend a good amount of money to see live shows as an entertainment opportunity

In SK only fans attend to these shows

In Korea, the Gochuk, and the CJ Mnet Arena which has not even built (who knows when it will be completed), house just 20,000 or so so I am not including them.

In Korea, a certain soloist tried to hold a concert at the Olympic Stadium. She is not included above because she is NOT a KPop singer (although her recent song might finally qualify her as one), but considering no Japanese female soloist ever held a concert at its largest venue, the nerve of the certain soloist to hold a concert at there would have put her ahead of all Japanese female soloists and in the same league with BigBang, EXO and BTS.

I have also noticed that kpop fans idealize the Nissan Stadium too much, in Japan the three most prestigious venues for concerts are Nippon Budokan, Tokyo Dome and Kokuritsu, Nissan is only big, for examplo Arashi never played in Nissan, but they are practically the owners of Kokuritsu, which is much more important

Just because someone sings in korean doesn’t mean it’s kpop...

Kpop is korean Sung pop music but it’s more-so is an industry (outside of Korea)

IU doesn’t market herself as such and many Koreans singers don’t like to be referred to as kpop or out in the same space as idols.

The same reason why many western artist skip over Korea and do multiple shows in Japan.

K-Pop itself is more an umbrella term of Korean music but even ig she doesn’t promote herself like that now, she did and she is still a K-pop singer no matter how much her fans deny it. She is much more a K-pop artists than a lot of other Korean artists (not the international popular ones)

Nippon Budokan is important for Japanese artists since performing there is kind of a confirmation that they have made it into the mainstream, but in Korea, the Gymnastic Arena serves that purpose so it is not really necessary for them to perform there if they could get bigger audiences elsewhere

Solo artists like Ailee still count as K-Pop even though they do not sound like K-Pop groups.

No, Ailee isn’t singing in R&B most of the time. It was mainly Pop. Also just because something isn’t popular doesn’t mean it doesn’t exists. Plus, Good day was a hit when it came out. Even in the international K-pop fandom

When they were the first act to sell out Tokyo Dome without any Japanese release and were the youngest act too.

Japanese ppl have concert going culture. In korea people only go to concerts if they r a fan of the group.

I'll never understand why mid tier bgs and top tier ggs in SK do the same venues? No one wants to see ggs perform. The investment is not there.

Actually, TVXQ performed at the Nissan stadium.

TVXQ set several records with their Time tour, which commenced at the Saitama Super Arena in April 2013. The duo became the first K-pop artist and the fourth foreign artist to embark on a five-dome tour,[139] and were the first foreign musical act to perform at the Nissan Stadium as a headlining artist.[140] The tour attracted a record audience of 850,000 people.[141] The tour grossed US$90 million, breaking Tone's record.[142]

And actually they broke a record by giving concerts there for 3 consecutive days.

In January 2018, Tohoshinki announced three shows at Nissan Stadium, as a grand finale of the tour, thus becoming the only foreign artists to perform at the venue twice, as well as the first artists to hold concerts at Nissan Stadium across three consecutive days.[23] They bring 225,000 fans from the 3 shows, to bring the total attendance to a million, making TVXQ the first overseas artist to mobilize millions of fans on a single tour in Japan.[24] They are reported to gain a revenue of 56,1 billion won (~50,4 million USD) for only 3 days concert in Nissan Stadium. More revenue were made from the concert goods than the tickets (with 29 billion won and 27,1 billion won separately).[25]

Their Korean name is DBSK ( Dong Bang Shin Ki) and their Japanese name is Tohoshinki- TVXQ (Chinese Tong Vfang Xien Qi) In other words, the group has 3 known names in Korean, Chinese and Japanese, and TVXQ is the name they generally use right now. Like Girls Generation. Their name is Girls' Generation, but they are also known as SNSD because their Korean name is " Sonyeo Sidae " The remaining two members of the group are generally known as TVXQ, Changmin and Yunho mostly work in Japan, and it is this two-man group, TVXQ, that broke the record.
