Because of rise of covid in korea. Revive this thread if i'm wrong
My prediction is aespa won't hit top 10 on melon

I don't understand connection between covid and aespa charting?

more people sick=less people checking out the songs I presume? But I am pretty sure that not everyone in Korean will suddenly fall sick.
Also melon is based on how many people are listening to a song. Even if the overall listerners fall, as long as the amount of listeners is propotional to before overall listenerals fell then it would be fine.
That is unless everyone interested in checking out Aespa's new song suddenly falls sick..........because of.......................

For the top 10, you need at least 200k uls by the time aespa comeback. The chance of this is 50 percent. Sure, they got some momentum right now, but It all depends on the song.
Here the chance for aespa. 15 percent it will reach 300k, 50 percent around or above 200k, 50 percent between 200k and 100k, and 15 percent below 100k.
Pick your poison. I am leaning toward around or above 200k to be realistic which is the top 10. I know this maybe disappointment for some people, but it is the most realistic one base on data and the current environment. It is also the best performance song form a come back this year for 4 gent girlgroup.
Don't expect this to be anywhere near Next level and you won't disappointed.

Shouldn't it do the opposite?
Rise of covid increases stream numbers and album purchases across all groups it seems... -

I can see opposite effect. More people are at home streaming music. Kpop have become much bigger during covid than ever before.

that is true but I think op meant more people sick in the hospitial. Like really sick to the point that they can't listen to music.

I too am a masochist, the world doesn't understand us

I have a gut feeling that this won't age well...

COVID didn't stop Next Level from smashing. Y'all are just playing dumb if you think they aren't going t10 due to hype alone. Whether they serve longevity is yet to be seen.
yes, but next level was a smashing song for a smashing movie... lets see if SM can really produce a hit song for aespa AGAIN, Without copying or stealing it
-
Are you talking about the new Melon Top 100? Because with the changes, any song can hit the top 10 (unless you're Thai i guess ).
If you're talking about a truly challenging chart, i would use Melon Daily or the old Melon 24Hits, or even the Melon Weekly chart.

Since when did SM stole the song? I don’t know if you’ve researched but SM literally bought the rights of the song.
