GFRIEND is one of kpop's very best groups.
A group that took a more nationalistic ethos, and played on a more traditional Korean feel, with themes of innocence, youth and nostalgia.
Very much a Nation's Girl Group ethos even if TWICE ultimately later took that crown for 3rd gen.
But there was a moment, a time at the start of 3rd gen when it looked like GFRIEND might become the representative girl group of Korea.
I think they will be remembered for this short time in the sun, when they captured the zeitgeist of a Nation's Nostalgia. They were a conservative, traditionally feminine group that exuded not only youth and beauty but also talent and excellence.
Rough, their magnum opus, is one of the high marks of 3rd gen. And one of Kpop's Classics.
I think this legacy will keep them in the minds of future generations.
