I have a sneaking suspicion that this is completely staged lol. I think the contestants are being "asked" to exaggerate for the cameras. I mean, these are pro dancers not actors and it shows, you can tell that they're clearly forcing themselves to be edgy and badass onscreen.

well it's true that MNet and other Korean channels will move more and more to 'scripted' shows or 'staged' situations, like you said

this is why Chinese survivals always brought few actresses on board like Esther and Zhuoxuan, even SNH48 members which ranking highest are those who are also playing in cdramas - Kiki, Xinran, even Zhao Yue.
