Most of the time I only interested in music and check out their personality/variety when i got time, except for super junior. I only checked their music after finding how amusing they are.
Do you check out idols’ music first before their personality or vice versa?

If I like the music, then there's a higher chance I'll check out the group's other content. I have to like the majority of their discography.
-
I've had it happen both ways, but most of the time it's through the music. I usually check out new MVs so that's how I learn about most groups. There have been times for older groups (notably Infinite and BtoB) where I saw the members in variety clips first and thought they were really funny which made me check out their music.
-
Yes. Music First, then everything else.
-
Music first but I have to like their personalities in order to become a fan. Not even in a way that they're super funny or entertaining, I just want them to seem nice and genuine
-
A quick 3 mins check on each of the group's MVs is the most efficient way of evaluating whether the group is for you or not

-
Music first, because 1/ it should be the primary reason to be interested in a group to begin with, and 2/ it takes way less time to check on a debut release than watching variety shows, promo footage and such to get familiar with the members.
-
Music first, I’m only interested to know their personality and stuff if I like them. Usually music is the main thing that makes me interested.
-
hmmm... a bit of both for me. Sometimes its the personality that draws me to check out their music.. that usually happens with groups from smaller companies like Dreamcatcher. For big companies I usually check out their music first before I want to learn about their personalities.

I can check either first but music will always be the deal-breaker for me
-
Music definitely.
I watch varieties from all the groups and enjoy most of them but don't really stan any of them.
-
Only music or performance. These two things have to be extraordinary for me to even consider checking the behind the scenes videos or even finding out the names of all the members.
-
Music first. But I've watched a lot of content from groups whose music I don't like because it was fun.
-
Their music first and then their personality. Both are important. I can't stan a boring group.
-
Music first, absolutely. If I’m particularly hooked by the music, then I look to find out more about them and their personalities.
I can’t imagine really stanning a group or artist if it hadn’t been their music I liked first
-
their music

it happens both ways. Sometimes i find some interesting content of a group and check out their music. Sometimes i listen to a song and if i like it then i look for more of their songs. But usually; if i got into a group through their music; i have to like more than one songs from them to follow them and check out their fan content; and if they don't have enough fan content sometimes i forget about it.

Usually, the music: title track, album cuts and performances. There are some singers or group members that I like their personality but their songs don't hit on a level I can feel.
For example, I somewhat knew about Sam Kim. After hearing him on the Get Real/DiveStudios Podcast, I thought he felt like a chill guy. I was willing to entertain his music a little more. I have only heard some of his work, but "The Juice" is the only song, so far, with seasoning that flatters his vocals in a way that catches my attention. I am looking forward to his upcoming music to see if any of it hits the bullseye more.

I don't really follow a specific way of discovering different idols/idol groups. As it really just depends on the content that I want to watch and where that takes me.
