Left & Right Did Really Well, Don’t Know Why People Look Over It When Mentioning SVT’s 2020 Digital Performance

Of course, when I say they did really well I am not referring to top girl group level or Bts level charting before anyone comes at me.

Whenever anyone brought up Seventeen’s 2020 charting they mention how bad they performed last year on charts, sure, may be true for Semicolon, but not Heng:Garae. We have to keep in mind that Semicolon was not promoted well, only informed of the comeback a week or 2 weeks prior to its release, and we had back to back comebacks last year (Japanese and Korean), so no one was prepared.

However, when Heng:Garae was released the MelOn chart was quickly reformed not too long after. Even after the reformation, they did so well, they charted for a lengthy period of time and stayed very consistent with Left & Right at least two and so months.

Even after reform, on the MelOn 24Hits chart it climbed up the rankings and peaked #16. It has 1.7M ULs, and stayed in the 24Hits chart for more than 1499 hours, which is a great personal feat for Seventeen. I don’t get why people just blind eye Heng:Garae when discussing about last year’s performance. It still has one of the best peaks on MelOn 24Hits. For a fan driven group, their charting was extremely great with Heng:Garae.

even so, homerun did better than most of the bgs songs after reform, only a handful of bgs can chart in 24 hits, 60k likes on melon, isn't bad at all

2019 also, home did really well but well ppl decided to focus on fear....

They really just pick and choose what they want to look at, like I agree!

L&R was one of the best comebacks (in terms of numbers) comparing to DWC and Home, there's no way to say that they performed bad back then.

Exactly, like Home did so well on charts but ppl only looked at Fear because it fit their narrative.

Besides all numbers or so, their styling, song, choreography, MV, and everything were on point.

I’m glad you like L&R! Personally it’s not my personal favourite anymore (got tired of it after listening to it so many times), but I do greatly appreciate the styling, aesthetic, and all the efforts and dedication behind the MV and the song.

But i really love Seventeen songs. I dont understand why GP sleeps on them. Is their group too many members that GP doesnt seem to want to invest in them? I still get occasional vibe that many would think Seventeen has 17 members and that's a huge turn off

I know it’s not a hit, or comparable to digital monsters, but it’s great considering no boy group does well digitally other than BTS. For boy groups the main criteria is fandom power (e.g. album sales, touring power, and etc), which they definitely seem to be doing amazing in. What my main point was, for a boy group whose main focus isn’t digitals, they did extremely well considering how boy groups usually chart (the fact they charted on 24Hits chart for nearly 2 months is great!).

I’d say Aju Nice is a hit and was received well in SK, and even till today it’s played on various occasions in Korea, such as sport tournaments, soccer games, variety shows, restaurants, malls and so on. It has approximately 3.4M-3.6M ULs if I remember correctly, which is pretty good imo. I am not sure why the general public sleeps on their other songs though, maybe because (as SVT said) most of their songs are targeted to build fanbase and not cater to the general public, so that could be the reason. It’s sort of funny how they are pretty well known outside of the fanbase for their variety show, Going Seventeen, and it has its own fanbase named “Cubics”; people who watch GoSe, but don’t stan Seventeen or check their music. GoSe has broke Naver searches on various occasions, and every release it goes on trending in Korea, so the general public is definitely aware of SVT, but for some reason they don’t really vibe with their music?

Maybe internationally amongst Kpop fans, but during 2017 a lot of groups had very successful comebacks, so DWC got blocked domestically.
