Helping doesn't mean automatic win. Maybe these groups would have done worse without these guest appearances. So unless you try to say these cameos harmed them, there's no reason to think it didn't help them in any capacity. I watched BtoB's performance only because Miyeon was a guest. So they gained at least one more view from it. So it helped.

To help what exactly? Cause I doubt it's possible for a short feature to help or shape group's destiny through the whole show) I think Lisa's presence helped with views, probably Miyeon helped with it as well, maybe girls' presence also increased ratings of respective episodes they were in comparing to other episodes, but what else did you expect?)

I mean, why would they? The point is that BG survival shows rely 100% on their fandoms since the GP don't give two shits about them (barring Produce 101 Season 2 ofc). So, it doesn't matter who shows up as the guest for what stage, at the end, the groups with the biggest fandoms will find a way to get to the top.
Like The Boyz kept getting scored 6th overall in all the rounds but were able to rise to #2 in the finale because they unarguably have the most dedicated Korean fandom in the show and they were able to help the second they could do something they were good at (digital streaming, live voting).

well i heard that no one from Stray Kidz's company (JYP, hence ITZY or Twice) never cameod for them, yet they won.
my theory is that the hardcore company stans (the ones who actually vote) were turned off by Lisa and Miyeon appearing, so they didn't vote. while JYP company stans were satisfied they didnt use the girl group members so they threw them a helping hand in the votes. i repeat, that's just my theory
