They’re literally a rookie girlgroup and they’re outselling some bg rookies. I thought ggs weren’t supposed to sell as much as bgs but here they are. Literally their highest selling album is 552k which is very close to Twice’s highest selling More and More(573k), and Twice are one of the leaders of the 3rd gen. Do you have a theory as to why they sell that well?
Why are Iz*One’s sales so high?

japan

japan
But even if we take out japanese sales, their sales are still pretty high for a rookie gg

Because they have survival tv show headstart which is a really similar thing to being a new group from one of top big 3 kpop labels.
+ they have beautiful MV's, and crazy good choreographies

Yes i’m kinda new to kpop
-
Because they have many fans
-
Actually their highest selling Album is 541k after the year end returns they had 10k unsold albums removed.
-
Because they have a good fanbase and their music is good. Like even though they came from Produce and have a reasonable size fanbase at the start, people will only continue to buy your albums and your album sales increase only of you consistently put out quality and that is what IZ*ONE did.
It's not just the big fanbase, it's because their music is good

yeah produce is one
They have a huge fanbase
The members are also quite popular
They have Sakura who is one of the most popular members from AKB48 - she also has a huge Chinese fanbase
Wonyoung is probably the visual of the 4th gen and she's only 16.
Yena is a variety darling - she starring in another variety program which i can't remember
Chaeyeon is the best 4th generation female dancer.
Yuri can sing and is one of the better main vocalists of the 4th.
Minju is an MC on Music Core
(there are others but I'll leave them to someone else to profile)
oh yeah and Nako is literally the cutest kpop idol of all
-
Even bad publicity is, in the end, publicity. Maybe that scandal with MNET grow people's interest in them (at least to check them) and started to actually like them? Idk, it's just an assumption. But yeah, since they promote both in SK and Japan having these ultra-cute concepts it's a bonus.
Also, I feel like their image is more anime-like than the one that Twice has. Also, Twice is growing old, and we all know that there are lots of weirdos who adore young and cute girls with a lolita image.
+ the benefit of izone is that they debuted when kpop started to grow internationally

Is it a glitch ?

They were on a popular survival show so they already have an established fanbase. All GG seem to have a huge boost in sales lately. Sakura is very, very popular in Japan. She is set to take over AKB in the future. Japan buys a lot. She brings in a lot of sales. Lastly, they honestly have a lot of catchy songs.

teenage fanboys put out for their favs

They were part of a show, so their fame was already raising before the debut. When they debuted they already had many fans and since they are so good it kept increasing
