No idea how I inspired you for this thread
Then again I'll be honest I wasn't into BTS that early in 2013, got to know them actually via this song

a lot of people in the Kpop community were expecting their debut because they were a full hip hop group and we didn't have much at this time
a lot of people also like No more dream, and said that they were expecting their cb because they had potential
and jimin even did a little buzz on korean community website for the moment where he lift up his tee shirt and his abs
not many people would be able to answer it to you
because 95% of their fans are new fans who join when they start being big

Try not to attack me for this post if you can. I don't have the energy right now to argue.
From what I have heard from people who used to stan them/still do (these people gave me their honest takes, so you may expect to hear little difference in hings than what you are used to hearing)
They were hated for being different by big fandoms (a pretty petty thing to do) . Their fan following grew gradually.
They weren't nobodies. But rather a little too unknown. There's a difference.
As for checking them out, Back then, False narratives wasn't as much prominent (from what I have heard) as much as it is now, So people did check them out because they were INTERESTING.
2015 saw a spark in the growth. It grew into a fire in 2016 and rest is history.
Have a good day everyone.

I don't know them when they were a nugu
-
Well if they were truly nugu then I don't think anyone would be talking about them at all
/joke if it's unclear

You just had to phrase it has "brainwashing"
My dude no one is doing that over a kpop group? Sure there might be some false narratives that spread online cause it's the internet, but "brainwashing"? Really?

I suggest you to watch the video I send, and you may know better about them, since you keep saying you are an army, at least you know who are you stanning. :) -

Fck. I meant false narratives. I'll edit it for more clear picture.

People were actually praising them so much because they were already such excellent performers when they debuted. I lurked BTS thread on the old OH it has all the contents from their debut and saw many loved them for their hip hop music, their down-to-earth personalities (Bangtanbomb) and performance skills. It was only until 2014-2015 that all the negativity arrived because certain big bg fandoms felt threaten by their potentials, they started making stupid accusations against them. You can watch the vid some have posted for specific events.

I'm not trying to attack you or anything but what do you mean by brainwashing?

ok thank you. That makes more sense.

False narratives to harm a group's image. We see that more often in KPOP (by all fandoms)

I mean I get what you're saying but I don't think it's relevant for this conversation. As you said it's done by all fandoms, so there was no need to mention it.
