I don't get why people say "Jungkook is a bad singer" 🙄

  • Whenever people have something to say about his vocals, they usually bring up his 2015 - 2016 covers or some cursed Fake Love/vocal line performances. Like don't y'all know people can improve? Some really love bringing up the "bad technique" argument, just to bash his vocals. Since debut, his technique wasn't as bad as people keep on telling. Even today, I wouldn't call his technique the best in kpop but it is definitely above average. He doesn't have much of a breathy voice now as he did back in 2015. But even back then, he used to sing that way to suit BTS songs.

He has improved a lot since 2019. He has a great command on his voice. He can sing in various styles. As for vocal technique, you can't sing the ON bridge, if your singing technique is even below average. Only good vocalists can do so. Most vocalists (even the good ones) can't play around with their voices like Jungkook and still sound great.

Not tryna bash a 13 year old, but his performance wasn't really that great. Then why do you think loads of kpop companies wanted him to sign their label? It's bc singing can be improved through technique and practice. Even after global fame, he's still trying to improve himself which shows his passion for singing. And that's something we all can appreciate.

  • Isn't it already established that he got the best vocal technique in the group?

I'm talking about kpop in overall. ARMYs will never think he's a bad singer.

    Literally no one say this

some people still bring up their 2018 performances to bash their vocals. that's why :(

  • His vocal abilities are enough for the Songs BTS releases, it fits it sounds good case closed.

It’s just that some people want to compare the skills of Idols with those who are obviously much better just to shade and it’s the same for other areas like dance, rap etc. too. It’s pathetic and immature.

  • He is not a bad singer at all.

He doesn’t need to have the best voice either, the way he sings, he touches peoples hearts, his raw emotions and passion for singing is more than enough

  • I think people are not calling him a bad singer (maybe antis?)

But I do agree that he is underappreciated. He does the track guide, adlibs, brings balance to the song, harmonizes, and yet it does not get that much appreciation which is kind of sad

  • I agree with people above... Jungkook is not a bad singer, it's just that people often compare him to idols who are on a different level. But that doesn't make him bad. Just because someone can't sing like Baekhyun or Taeyeon doesn't make them a bad singer. K-pop fans just always feel the need to bring some idols down to lift their faves up.

people on the old forum used to say this a lot. this isn't necessarily about any particular thread.

Hardly anybody says he's a bad singer, you transparent dolt.

    why you gotta insult me?

  • To be honest, I don't think many people call him a bad singer. It's mostly just some toxic Exo-Ls because of fanwars and the need to assert dominance in the form of vocal lines :angryr:

In my opinion, his vocals are more overlooked than anything.

As one of the most popular members and the main vocalist, it seems hard to believe that Jungkook barely gets vocal praise, compared to the other members. But, if you think about it, it's true. Jimin and Taehyung are praised for their unique vocals and Jin is praised for his improvement and "silver voice".

People only compliment Jungkook's vocals in videos that specifically highlight them (eg. "Jungkook's best vocals").

In BTS' songs, he mostly sings the repetitive parts and the high notes are given to Jimin. His voice is often called boring, typical or emotionless (it's honestly not and I don't understand why people say this).

In Love Maze, Jungkook did a vocal run where he hit 8 notes in 0.8 seconds. That was probably the most difficult run in BTS' discography and he did it with such ease as well. You'd think the entire comment section would be talking about it but there were only like 5 comments at most that I saw.

    I really agree with this:

But I do agree that he is underappreciated. He does the track guide, adlibs, brings balance to the song, harmonizes, and yet it does not get that much appreciation which is kind of sad

A lot of ARMYs only know how to cry about him getting the most lines without realising the amount of work that goes into being a main vocal. Jungkook (and possibly Jimin) carried BTS' vocal line in their rookie days but no one acknowledges it. He deserves more credit as a main vocalist because he is a damn good singer.

  • JK can't just sing, he can sang. And his singing isn't just good enough for the "songs BTS releases"(this is a whole different convo I'm not even going to get into) he can sing period. His covers are top notch.

I dunno about Baekhyun, never listened to his songs, but Taeyeon ain't the best either but I appreciate her voice and songs.

  • I don't think any ARMY ever said that Jungkook is a bad singer - that would be completely untrue anyway. I think he has the more stable voice of the vocal line even though they are all good in what they are doing.

If you're talking about antis, then they will say anything to shit on BTS members anyway, it's fine.

  • I mean, I don't really see many people saying that unless they're an anti/baiting/trolling, and even if they aren't it's just their opinion. There isn't an absolute measure of good or bad anyway, just what is good or bad to any given person. Can anyone name an idol that people don't call bad at at least something?

  • it physically pains me to see JK being labelled as a bad singer. He is great and is a beast at what he does.

He might not have the prowess of the likes of Junsu, Hongki or OKR Taka but watch his ON stages, black swan, My time....anything

Hell this boy is an absolute monster at bts concerts, ripping through a setlist of group songs into his solo & unit & group like an everlasting engine.

Jungkook is done so dirty and underappreciated by many.

  • The thing is he’s not a belter -or at least he’s gone in that direction a couple of times and did well but it’s apparent that’s not how he likes to approach singing- so for some people that automatically excludes him from being considered a ‘good vocalist’ as if constant belting was the end-all of vocal technique. Jk’s a very consistent performer, in all these years I could probably count on one hand the amount of times he was visibly off which must mean something lol

  • If we’re talking about YouTube here, a lot of YouTube “ARMY” have this unspoken rule that Jungkook already gets “enough” praise, lines and attention, so they try to balance it out by dedicating more comments and hype to the other members.

You can praise other members individually but when it comes to Jungkook, you’ll often find people replying to you with “He’s not the only one singing, so and so did well too!1!1” or “BTS is 7. If you’re going to praise JK, you need to praise all members too unless you’re a fake OT7”.

Some of them have even openly said in the comments that they purposely don’t mention JK in their praises because it would be unfair to the other members when he’s already got so many stans rooting for him to do it. As if other BTS members aren’t popular in their own right and have so many stans rooting for them too.
