Like TVG, Shinkansen going 200 miles per hour in regular operation.
Do you think the US needs bullet trains?

I think it would help boost the economy immensely but on the flipside, their could be grave consequences to the environment if the construction is not handled with the upmost care.
We were supposed to have a few bullet trains in California but they cut the funding at the last minute after YEARS of planning.
One of the problems is that one political party is SO for bullet trains in California while the other is SO against them thus the situation always changes depending on who is Governor at the time.
-
Real estate speculators and landlords are going to get profit out of bullet train stations, usually house price around which would go up. More business operations like malls/ restaurants would pull in the area too.
What do you mean funny business?

Funny business as in someone would try to do something outrageous with the bullet trains.
Of course, I think it’s a great idea, but I’m concerned how some people might make things go wrong.

Boost the economy in which ways?
What are the chances of raising speed limit to 200 mph in highways to waive off bullet trains?

Because we'd have access to more jobs. For example, I live in Central Cali but I don't own a car nor drive. A LOT of the really good jobs are in the bay area.
It would be awesome If I could work in San Jose everyday. Vice versa, we have a LOT of agricultural working Central Cali that a lot of poor families in the bay area could use that kind of work.
-
lol these are the same speed as the ICE (Inter city express) here in Germany

Did they ever project bullet train ticket fare had it been done?

Yes and no
After 1998 Eschede accident ICE trains do not drive as fast as before, a lot of time it does not go above 250km / hr as far as I have remembered while I was there.
Like in some uphill sections from Mannheim to Munich they even do about 100-150 km/ hr
If its different now let me know

227 miles between Tokyo to Kyoto
https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2363.html
Shinkansen fare between 2 cities is 28,000 yen round trip, equally about $ 280, SF to Bakersfield is about 290 miles ..
OK make it $280 from SF to BF round trip, CA makes it a bit more affordable than Japan and build 5 stations, travel from 1 station to another and back costs $50-60 a day. 22 working days a month costs $1,300, and that's for the luckiest ones that only have to get on a 1 station ride to work....
I am not sure if poor families can afford 2 to 3 stations travel a day had bullet train project got a go with 4 to 5 stations..
-
i dont think the infrastructure can support it...but it does need it!
-
anytime you can travel from point to another faster, it's always a plus, holding everything else constant. just need to lay down the tracks...
i mean it applies to any nation in the world
-
Normally I would be in full support of bullet trains, but with technologies like hyperloop being developed, it’s time to shift towards this sort of transporation.
