I mean it might influence idols to look up to them and work harder but It can also serve idols bad as they might think that they are not good enough. I remember seeing this sad things idols have said and one of them was NCT Mark where he said I am sorry we are not BTS. Every group is there own. There will be no next BTS because BTS is BTS. Every single person has a identity.

And as of right now, BTS is the top act in K Pop, quite possibly in the entire world.

The irony is that BTS never even made that as their goal. Yoongi recently revealed in a variety show that he was fully expecting Bangtan to disband after only a couple of years, with their peak being of only moderate success and for him to just eventually stay on at BigHit as a producer. I think there is a reason great fortune come to those who never seek it

Comparison is unnecessary, especially with a group like BTS who...well, they're too big at this point. But every group has right to dream to get as successful as them or maybe surpassed them? But it will become a burden if BTS as the standard of being success, and below them considered as flop

Just speaking generally, comparisons cannot be avoided but ones to BTS should be be, or at least reduced.

If you're climbing a mountain you have to worry about your next step, not what's on top of the mountain. And that is what makes little sense about comparisons with BTS, when you have artists at a far lower commercial success level yet the comparisons to BTS start right away.

And this isn't only about the music industry, you can say that about any field.

Also, I have to say that whenever any X person who is showing some promise in whatever field they're in and they get compared to the biggest, it just undermines that top spot because the implication is that it's so easy to achieve given that so many people are compared to it.

Again, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with wanting to be at the top, just don't do it when you're still at the bottom of the mountain or barely halfway through.

Yoongi wasn't talking about how they felt now in 2021, he was talking about how he felt when he debuted. He was content with the idea of not making it big because he wasn't expecting anything. And you forget that the main reason behind their almost-disbandment in 2018 was because of their western success. Outro:Tear was written about exactly those emotions they felt about it. They were literally going to break-up because of their success and not for the lack of it. The fear/pressure they felt outweighed the passion they had to achieve their goals at that time. It wasn't until in 2019 that I think they began to accept their status and try to see what else they can do beyond it. And sidenote, you can be humble and have goals too so don't suggest that they arent

I hope they realize BTS was also compared to BigBang during their debut and were ridiculed by some VIPs.

It's like history repeats again. Now other rookie groups get compared to BTS. So instead of getting mad at the comparison, they should take it as a compliment that "BTS is viewed as every rookie's role model".

Tbh I always feel bad when new groups get compared to BTS. Especially in the west, it's REALLY cringy during interviews and stuff.

That said, I do agree it's mostly unavoidable, and not only in kpop.

There's no one getting mad at the comparison here, they're just saying it might be a burden.

Some ppl so dramatic and look for drama. No one said anything bad about the group just because they were compared.

But Armys are villains in every story so.

Comparisons are okay, imo.

It's only when BTS's achievements are dismissed or belittled ( even making up false narratives) by some Kpoppies in order to lift their faves up to make it look like they've surpassed BTS that has ARMYs peeved.

Where do we get mad when others said they look up to BTS or cover their songs?

And tbh, others do comparison to downplay BTS and create fanwar...

Just yesterday people sizzling at a BTS and Twice thread just because army n once didn't have fanwar when they have similar cb date...

Gives you idea who have issues with that...

Comparisons will be there and so will the disappointment. I am afraid the interest in BTS doesn't translate to the whole genre, according to observation or we would have seen a fruitful result till now.

They are dreamers. They are ambitious. And very smart. They want success like every artist does. Ofcourse they want it. It's right there in their lyrics. Their entire career they have made songs about dreaming big. To say that an artist doesn't want success is a myopic perspective. It's just that they have never taken for granted what they were given, made incredibily smart decisions and tried to remain grounded. You reach a point when you are at the top and then you realize how lonely it can get. They have struggled with that feeling. They still do and will forever do. There will come a time when they will come down from that high and that will bring a different kind of feeling. I have watched their tour documentaries and all these feelings they have expressed. Sometimes when work feels like work, when burn outs happen, sometimes when the rush is so high they want to conquer the world or when they just think about everything that's happening around them. They like to brag about their achievements. Humbly so but they do and yes they have a pettiness too yet they have always exhibited that in a classy manner. I think that's amazing.
