That is some damn nice design though.
true...8 if you get all member versions of the silver.
If they’re going to milk it, they should at least do it in a very appealing way. But that hourglass though… fire!

I'll grab the Mood Light and the Grey version and I wont have to pay Trump Tax

Blackpink ain't a baby
That's so evil
I want that hourglass
Well, yes, they're a company which means profit is all they care about at the end of the day.
So of course there will be multiple versions.
This should not surprise anyone.
I reallyyyyy love the hourglass but honestly the rest are underwhelming, bit boring

Tbh, that's not just YG, the albums I've seen from other agencies are underwhelming too. Lack of quality and creativity. This is why I don't buy many albums anymore.
In a couple of years, we can only buy those digital versions because even PCs have those. And let's be real, most people only buy physical albums because of the merch, not the CD.
Even to this day, I have never seen better physical albums than the Dreamcatcher ones. The package alone is pure art.
This Is For (stylized in all-caps) is the fourth full-length album by TWICE. It was released on July 11, 2025 with "This Is For" serving as the title track.
The physical album comes in nineteen versions: This, Is, For, Confetti, nine individual Digipack versions, three vinyl versions (Target Exclusive Plumberry Vinyl and TWICE Store exclusives Honeydew Glitter Vinyl and Dragonfruit Glitter Vinyl) and three nemo Polaroid versions (This, Is and For).
"Spaghetti" is the first single album by LE SSERAFIM. It was released on October 24, 2025 with "Spaghetti" serving as the single's title track.
The physical album comes in 22 versions: Weird Garlic, Knocking Basil, Cheeky Neon Pepper, six Compact versions (Crema Silver, Salsa Pink, Pesto Green, Alfredo Blue, Ragu Red, and Béchamel White), two Weverse Album versions (QR; A and B), Stress Ball version, two LP versions, and eight US-Exclusive Single version (Plate, Spaghetti, Sauce, Mushroom, Tomato, Bacon, Cheese, and Parsley).
Rich Man is the sixth mini album by aespa. It was released on September 5, 2025 with "Rich Man" serving as the album's title track.
The physical album comes in 15 versions: two Rich Man Bag versions, five Burst versions (group and four individual), four individual Energy, and four individual Rich Man Guitar versions (NFC).
IVE Secret (stylized in all-caps) is the fourth EP by IVE. It was released on August 25, 2025 with "XOXZ" serving as the album's title track.
The physical album will be available in 17 versions: Shh!, Gasp!, Psst!, Loved IVE, MD, six member-specific Evil Cupid (Nemo) versions, and six member-specific Digipacks.
I could go on.

yea I just prefer something more exciting and no so minimalist like these BP albums.
There still are some good ones though, I remember Illit released one that looked like a camera that I really liked.
Dreamcatchers albums are just perfect, I remember when getting into them I looked into buying some of their older albums because the designs are so awesome. But iirc older ones were only available on ebay and priced up.
I buy quite a decent amount of albums and I've noticed the quality has taken a hit. Some of the hinges for the photobook feels weak and sometimes they're missing content like cards. The best packaging for a recent album I purchased was Kiss your life - lose yourself magazine version. The album had a very detailed photobook that felt like viewing an actual magazine and they put a lot of care into the packaging. It's too bad I don't collect their albums anymore but their company had good packaging for their album.
For big 4 companies I feel they're getting worse with quality but some of the groups will have good packaging. Out of the big 4 girl groups I found Itzy to have the best packaging with what they include in their albums. It was shocking to me that Nmixx quality wasn't as good because I would've thought a jype group would do better because Itzy and Twice usually have good packaging.

It's hard to get a lot of their older stuff and the resale value is one of the highest i've seen in kpop. I guess it makes sense since some of the older albums are rare due to limited print because group wasn't that big when they started. They did re-release their first 2 singles in late 2024 and was obtainable through most shops
How many songs does minis have?

In can't remember if I posted about this on here or the DC reddit a year or so back, but I was disappointed with Dreamcatchers last few albums as I felt both the quality of inclusions and to a degree the physical quality of the albums themselves both declined.
Dreamcatcher used to have really thoughtful, interesting inclusions in their albums, like metal bookmarks, kits to make things, but their last few just fell into the usual "photobook, photocards, postcards and a mini poster" thing, even with their special editions

Interesting you say that because I've always felt one of the bigger issues with ITZY albums is that, physically anyway, their album packaging is never great. Boxed albums come in flimsy cardboard, while some are just the things stuffed into the photobook and shrink wrapped. Inclusions wise, theres some cool stuff, but its hard keeping them in one complete package. Bookshelving them with everything together isn't really possible with the whole "stuffed between the pages of the photobook". I have a seperate box that I keep the Itzy inclusions in.

Interesting, did you buy the special editions? Maybe I had some luck with their special edition albums.

A lot of big companies started turning to greenwashing and used "sustainable packaging"
The Album was gorgeous. Born Pink...well, you can see when YG Plus pledged themselves to save trees or whatever
I'll never stop raving about NewJeans album designs and inclusions but they're all cardboard material and it drives me crazy. My old LSF albums too
Twice fell off after Fancy
Hourglass looks nice.
How many versions is this compared to their other albums (counting each member version separately)?
About the same as Born Pink
Agreed. I think that change is probably why quality seems worse these days. I think they still need to adjust some of the packaging because I feel a lot of albums includes things that many people don't care about. I think removing certain items could help with improving quality
I bought the How Sweet member version and I was impressed with the quality. Usually with the member version of albums, it's usually just the cover and nothing special in the package. With How Sweet members version everything was unique from cards, photobook, and other content. More companies need to follow in that regard because I've been burned by some member version albums in the past.
LSF is very hit or miss but the package for spaghetti album was very good. I was shocked they actually went into detail to package it like pasta you find at the grocery store. So, they actually had ingredient list, cooking instructions, etc. I think that would make for a good collector item to have because of the novelty of it.
I think for Twice they have so many albums they make it just good enough. On the other hand, Nmixx packaging is pretty weak which is weird since the groups is pretty creative.

I get SOOOOO shitty when I order a member version of an album and get random photo cards, so other members, and sometimes NO cards/photos etc of the member whose version I'm buying.
IF I BUY A CHAERYEONG MEMBERS VERSION I WANT CHAERYEONG ALL DAY, EVERYDAY!!! WHO IS THIS RYUJIN?
STICKERS
I hate how insincere it is. If you want an environmentally sustainable album, stop making 500 randomized photocards. Like cool, you made the ✨cardboard ✨ albums to litter the streets and landfills instead plastic because you still incentivize fans to bulk buy . Mother Nature herself is going to open a sinkhole under Seventeen and swallow those boys whole one day.
One thing I really wish companies would pick up on is completely fixed versions like NewJeans. Not a single thing is randomized. I think it's a great way to cut out the extreme bulk buying while still promoting sales because if it's easy for fans to complete a collection, more will want to do it overall.
we waited for so long tho
We're the same age
