Never thought I'd see the day KATSEYE outchart BLACKPINK on the Billboard Hot 100 but that day has arrived

will this help them have big tours and sales like bp?

I wouldn't be surprised if they could.

With 4th gen having seen its peak and on the decline, i think we are witnessing the scramble to replace them. I once referred to Katseye and Allday as the true 5th gen replacements (not groups like Kiii, Hearts, Illit, etc who i consider 4.75 gen). But with KPDH serving as a massive cultural reset who knows?
Maybe 5th gen will be a bunch of disparate elements leading Kpop forward. International groups with tons of foreign members, multiple languages mixed into the Korean in the songs, coed groups, more virtual groups, crossover with Japanese style anime, etc.

i dont believe groups like these will have that long lifespan. Also when it will come down to touring and sales we will have to see if it translate. time will tell

I would've made a thread for aespa too, but they couldn't make it on the chart even with blatant rigging.

Happily, Jump just surpassed Gnarly as the most-streamed girlgroup song of the year.
I can't believe Yama is still disrespecting it after it saved us like that.

Forget Billboard, I'm just shocked that releasing Gnarly wasn't the end of their careers. Then I remember the youngins have no taste.

While one could argue that Katseye is part of the Kpop ecosystem, I really don't think their formula is the way forward for the Kpop industry. They don't even consider themselves a Kpop group, despite promoting like one.
Please no more virtual groups.

As long as nobody sue, katseye is the path to stardom, with bp out of the map (that contract end in 2026) and with all the connections njz once had (so close to the sun them were burn by it) the sky is the limit
Ironically enough its been announced this week Hybe are debuting another global GG in an identical way from the same label as Katseye within a year of them debuting with the same contestants from the same show. Sure Katseye are thrilled.

they are biased they see one area being "surpassed " and use to come at blinks lol but don't see bp also surpassed them in other areas
literally there is a thread about this blackpink's jump is still the most streamed song this year

everything is possible with scooter, so when they dump the group like nj, their true lacking power revealed. Enjoy it katseye
-
Who knows I mean it could be marketed differently too Katseye uses the kpop formula, I know people argue its not kpop but even though they don't sing Korean every aspect like lightsticks is very much kpop. I wonder if this new group goes for a different audience.
However if they don't and they follow the Katseye formula similar like Illit and NewJeans, I don't think thats a good look at all. Debuting the same type of group not even a year after the one you just debuted will raise question how confident Hybe are with Katseye.

Yama behave exactly like patrik with NJZ when it’s comes to BP
Just complete delusion and disregard for common sense. Two peas in a pod

I'm sorry, are there not three other girl groups outperforming BLACKPINK on the Billboard Hot 100? Did it not take BLACKPINK a full month to overtake a rookie co-ed group on the Korean charts?
I need to make sure I understand where the delusion and disregard for common sense come into play.

You Blinks keep saying that.
And I LOVE it.
Please, keep piling on when we all know NewJeans were sabotaged, and of the 4 songs they released last year, 2 were Japanese releases promoted exclusively in Japan, and 1 was only available on YouTube for the first month. The other was outright sabotaged by HYBE and still pulled numbers.
I can only imagine what NewJeans would do if they actually targeted the U.S., given how they eclipsed BLACKPINK and all other girl groups here, when they weren't even actively promoting or marketing themselves in the West. Lmao.
When NewJeans win their freedom, you all better hope and pray they flop. I can deal with all the heat I would get if that happens. None of you could handle the scenario where they reach new peaks though.

I mean you keep giving a million excuses all the time.
BP also dropped a comeback, never promoted it and charted this high doing nothing after all.
Just like how you think NJZ were sabotaged many people also think every record NJZ had on billboard was payola.
So you can keep giving as many excuses as you want but the fact remains that they didn’t chart. So that means that they must be less popular than all these GGs. Duh.
-
-
Oh, I think that? You say that like it's an opinion or just my perspective and not literally what factually happened.
The current HYBE CEO is on record saying their goal is to destroy NewJean's brand, but this is somehow just my conjecture?
Over 1700 negative articles about NewJeans, a huge chunk released on the eve of their comeback, with all kinds of harmful, defamatory, racist and objectifying narratives being pushed about them.
The fact NewJeans is still this popular and relevant and impactful in spite of this horrendous company sabotage is a testament to their supreme popularity.
I don't think any other girl group perhaps ever could survive and thrive the way they have.
-
Imagine reading this only for someone to tell you that "you think" NewJeans is being sabotaged.
