Will Hearts2Hearts eventually overtake Aespa?

H2H is a 10 months old group. What they have currently:
- Peaked at 16th on the Circle Weekly chart
- 2 music show wins, both at The Show
- ~800k total album sold
Compared to a 10 month old aespa:
- Peaked at 2nd on the Circle Weekly chart
- 1 music show win at Inkigayo
- 0 album sold
- that 2nd-peaked song won AOTY daesang at KMA, a feat only few idol groups achieved. None of H2H song currently is KMA-worthy imo.
aespa just have greater start, to overtake aespa they need a comparable nation hit at least.
Thing is, I don't think f(x) was intended to overtake GG...
TBF at that time SM had 3 active girl groups , debuted 2 years separately, none of them was intended to overtake other. SM just had bad luck of girl groups for like half of decade and was trying everything they could.
It's not the same as today when girl group can be the flagship group for a company.

I’d say what also helped aespa is that RV weren’t at the top of 3rd gen. So with a new gg from SM that was four members like the top gg at the time, it got a lot of people hyped.
H2h imo might forever live in the shadow of aespa and be used as cope for sm stans who crave a 2nd snsd (which imo h2h don’t really give even though sm is milking it and the fans are playing into it)

Doesn't help that they keep on flip-flopping with their title tracks. From the bop Get a Guitar to the mid high school musical Fly Up to the rage hip hop Fame.
They flop in may ways, and don't have an identity. However, they are a good revenue maker, since they do really well with physical sales, so they keep them going 🙂↕️

You never know tho. You can’t really predict the kcharts like h2h could drop a song out of nowhere and it becomes a national hit and catapult them. When aespa released Next Level, I didn’t think it would blow up like that but it did.

Yeah most boy groups are like that anyway

I don’t think H2H will outpeak aespa! Aespa is SM biggest girl group ever (debatable with SNSD) but aespa have broken every gg record within SM

Can H2H do that, maybe? But the likelihood of H2H doing it seems slim! Not every group can do better than the last! We witness it with SNSD to fx - RV, Twice - Itzy - Nmixx and BP - BM.
And that’s ok! I have no doubt H2H will be big and anything is possible but it’s ok not to break ever record as long as they keep releasing great music for their fans

They weren't that hyped initially, Black Mamba did even worse than H2H's debut, only peaked #49.
It's just aespa luckily had a nation hit. You couldn't never predict nation hit.

aespa still have less #1 tracks, less top 10 tracks, less music show wins, less #1 albums than Red Velvet.

The group seems to be doing fine and they just need one hit song to stand out. Their looks and genre is also completely different from Aespa so they can comfortably coexist together.
Honestly SM group downfall starts because the idols aren't happy with the company and want to leave. RV girls were doing regular promo until some girls left the company. If Aespa members are kept happy then they might not leave and if they have fire songs they could go on for a while.

The Chase done a lot better than Black Mamba but aespa had a faster projection, whereas H2H seem to have a slow buildup and consistent and stable route

Also I think it’s worth noting Karina and Ningning (even Winter amongst SM stans) were really hyped up before debut! Whereas H2H is the first gg where no one knew who anyone was. People had to really get to know the girls
Also longevity is always better to measure success than peak imo! As long as they’re able to enter top 10 then longevity should override peak! Too many factors to consider when analysing peaks (difference in ULs, ghost charting/ empty house/ chart changes etc) longevity will always prove how well a song is received

Aren't that big within their Gen, but do generate a good chunk of revenue for their labels.

I can bet all of my akorns that's not going to happen

It'll happen if they get a song as big as Next Level.

Why didn't it happen to RV?

-
-
-
Bc rv keeps on flip flopping between bright and dark title tracks/concepts?
Which we can't also say for H2H

Why didn't it happen to RV?

Because it completely depends on luck. There is no way to explain why this song was the national hit or not.

I won't allow the avatars members erasure is a 8 vs 8

I literally remember every member’s teasers going viral on twitter and aespa were the talk of the town when they debuted. Just bcs black mamba was received lukewarm in korea doesn’t mean they weren’t a hyped group at least internationally.

So far they are a big disappointment, and for a SME group... fiasco this far. But tides can change, but.... I kind of doubt it.
A big disappointment is a stretch tbh. H2h is doing better in their rookie year than both FX and red velvet so i’d say they’re doing alright.

Unplug them???

well, we, or at least I, had a bit higher expectation and hoped for something like Girls' Generation/Twice type of group. But yes, they still have time, but don't feel any big potential when I watch them and instead get the typical average tier 3 group vibe from them.
