imo they will still do great but 2024 was peak. 3 HIT songs (supernova, Armageddon, whiplash) in one year topping charts is unbeatable.
I think regardless of push by SM, their 2024 year was just plain hard to beat in general.
I do think SM has gotten better at keeping older acts in mind, like RV wasnt sidelined nearly as much ad FX or SNSD, but they also had less internal turmoil too and Aespa has by far the least scandal of any SM group AND their first TRUE it girl since Yoona and no replacement in sight so…

I almost made a separate thread (and still might) to discuss aespa's lack of success in the West relative to their peers, all of whom are not as popular overall as aespa.
I can see aespa maybe breaking through in the future, but that still wouldn't immediately make the year as successful or dominant as their 2024 was.

"First TRUE it girl since Yoona?" I think your long-term memory is failing you. RV's output also slowed down just as much as SNSD's, if not more so. They'll do the same to Aespa if they don't keep their numbers up.

Artists can still grow even if they're no longer in their peak. Look at Twice. Statistically, their peak was from Q4 2016 to 2017, but they've grown tremendously as artists since then.
In 2021, i opined many times about how Aespa had dealt the crippling blow to end 3rd gen once and for all after Next Level destroyed everyone.
Nobody believed me but i was proven right.
Aespa ushered in 4th gen's rise to power, and were quickly followed by Tomboy, Love Dive, Attention, and Hybe Boy.
Now it's 2025 and the circle has come around. I think Aespa's flop comeback (and one of the worst songs i've ever heard tbh) for Dirty Work has signalled the end of 4th generation and the rise of 5th gen (Katseye, Allday, HuntrX).
Also remember, Aespa never would have conquered 2024 without SM Mastermind MHJ deliberately sabotaging all three of Hybe's GGs. There's also been a massive campaign to destroy Hybe ever since BangPD tried to steal SM away from Kakao.

No, a peak refers to your individually most dominant segment of time in your career.
Michael Jordan won championships multiple years in a row, but his "peak" as a player was his stretch of his most individually dominant seasons, not that entire span of championship seasons.
If we looked at the numbers, we could absolutely find a peak year for BLACKPINK, just like we could with SNSD and other top girl groups.
I can without hesitation say Mamamoo's peak year was 2018, even though their arguably biggest song, Hip, didn't drop until after that year.
